my truck was broken into tonight
-
derek bomarnot much taken (only a cd case)... went through the glove compartment, through my papers everywhere. May have taken some change off of my dash. I leave the doors unlocked out of habit, so luckily no broken windows or anything. Guess things could be worse. Just would have liked to catch the fucker in the act...
anyone ever catch anyone vandalizing/stealing/b&e? I would love to rage on someone if given the chance. -
Early CuylerI've never caught anyone. Last year in Columbus I had someone break into my truck, and rather than taking a $200 camera in the console, they decided to leave it to take $10 worth in change instead. I got a new truck over the summer, and had it broken into all ready to steal a nearly 10 year old empty Nike gym bag. The morale of this tale is that criminals near the campus area of Columbus are clearly dumbasses.

justincredibleWe've forgotten to lock our vehicles a couple times and every single time someone went through our stuff. The night my truck was left unlocked the spare keys were in it, as well as the title. They took nothing. The night the car was left unlocked they stole my wife's sunglasses. Our neighbor said that people just go down the street most nights checking for unlocked cars. When they find one they go through it looking for things they can sell for drugs.

Curly JI had a vehicle broken into many years ago. For some stupid reason I left the little packet that I kept my credit cards and a debit card in the vehicle. I found my credit cards around the side of the building, but not the debit card. I cancelled it and it was found the next day.
When The Wife got in her car she noticed an empty BBQ Grippo's bag in the passenger floor board. They actually sat and ate in her car between breaking into several vehicles that night.
Now that I have the Jeep I keep it unlocked with nothing of value in it. -

HitsRusIt seems to be a 'thing' right now. Kids or people looking for unlocked cars to get some quick cash. We and our neighbors had our cars rifled thru in our driveways a few months ago. All they take is the cash they can find...they are not looking for anything to have to sell or pawn. A few eeeks ago I saw a group of teens just walking thru the parking lot at the mall lifting on door handles...I called the cops but they were gone before they got there.

I think you mean the moral of the story. But the real question is, who is the bigger dumbass....the criminals in Columbus or the dumbasses that continue to leave things in their cars after getting broken in before?Early Cuyler;1124930 wrote:I've never caught anyone. If you live in Florida you could have just shot them.HitsRus;1124976 wrote:It seems to be a 'thing' right now. Kids or people looking for unlocked cars to get some quick cash. BR1986FBAbout 4 or 5 years ago I was away and someone broke into my garage and vandalized some of my weight equipment. My girlfriend caught the two guys in the act and they attacked her with a baseball bat. These guys were wearing ski masks, which is fortunate for them as this is a very small town. If I knew who it was, they'd be eating through a straw the rest of their lives.

LJOur local car burgler was shot and killed while in the process of breaking into someone's car last October.
http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2011/10/10/blacklick-neighbor-confronts-fatally-shoots-suspected-thief-police-say.html
As soon as Columbus police cruisers rolled up to their Bollingen Road home a few minutes later, Mr. Hughes stepped outside and officers told him this: Someone had broken the rear window of his Chrysler 300 sedan to steal his stuff. A neighbor, who heard the breaking glass and commotion, left his own condominium and confronted the suspected thief.
Some sort of confrontation ensued, and the neighbor shot and killed the man, said homicide detective Pat Dorn. He identified the dead man as Sean H. Stiffler, 28, who lived with his family on Creekstone Lane in a subdivision less than a mile from where the shooting occurred. -

LOL...it wasn't from a Law & Order episode. I saw the marks from the beating she took and we had police cruising past our house on a regular basis for a few months.Tiernan;1125026 wrote:I saw that same Law & Order episode...nice try though. -

Ive had a garage broke into and a car broken into. Possibly. She's messing with me because I'm a fan of all things Cleveland. Yet it's funny because the worst "crime" I experienced when I lived up there was having the roof of my Jeep Wrangler sliced open and a stereo stolen at a Marilyn Manson concert by a homeless guy (he tried to sell the stereo back to me, LOL).derek bomar;1125141 wrote:isnt Columbus worse? we're probably not, but I thought we were having all kinds of murders last year...
Since I've lived down here I've had devil worshippers spray paint the side of my garage, the former tenants of my house (renters) spray paint "bitch" and several other savory messages on the side of my house three days prior to closing, my car & garage broken into and some POS stole the spare tire off the back of my Jeep Liberty in the middle of the night. Other than that, no "murders", yet... -
