THE4RINGZIt was just a matter of time until an incident like this happened. Our troops are in a no win situation, and finally the frustration reached a boiling point in one soldiers life.

Belly35Seems that if you shot citizens that a bad thing but if you blow up the market place innocent citizens are killed that's OK. Bottom line is simple use grenades strapped to frighten women and uneducated children that is the approved method of killing civilians. </SPAN>

HitsRusI don't think there are any civilized people that condone either one Belly. The man committed a heinous crime against Afghan civilians, and it is in their judgement he must sit. He should be bound over to them for whatever punishment is due him under Afghan law. I feel terribly sorry for his family stateside, but have little sympathy for the man himself.

You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror... Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies!

Fab1bWas he even fit for duty?
http://gma.yahoo.com/soldier-held-afghan-massacre-had-brain-injury-marital-061722796--abc-news.htmlThe Army staff sergeant who allegedly went on a rampage and killed 16 Afghans as they slept in their homes had a traumatic brain injury at one point and had problems at home after his last deployment, officials told ABC News. -
dwccrewI love the excuses the military comes up with to try and explain why certain events happen. Qurans were "accidentally" burned and this guy had a "brain injury". Sounds like the top brass has no fucking clue what is going on. This guy should have been sent home long ago and probably should not have been on his 4th tour of duty.

An official told ABC News that the soldier has suffered a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the past, either from hitting his head on the hatch of a vehicle or in a car accident. He went through the advanced TBI treatment at Fort Lewis and was deemed to be fine.Fab1b;1113993 wrote:Was he even fit for duty?

He also underwent mental health screening necessary to become a sniper and passed in 2008. He had routine behavioral health screening after that and was cleared, the official said.
I'm sure he was fine the US is just trying to find any reason to make him look insane at the time doing it. Yeah people snap because they can't handle the pressure of being on deployment. -

Fear, death and destruction, anxiety, frustration and anger adding in time and physical stress can only lead to the demise of the most important thread a soldier has…… for self control … “emotion”. I have seen and felt that feeling of non-emotion state. It is not a place where you want to go, it a scary vision.4cards;1113678 wrote:...I thought belly retired from the military
Blame who? To long in the field? Some guys live in the field others crumble quickly. Someone should have been watching? Watching what? Take a rubber band a pull it .. When will it snap and what point is there no return to normal?
Excuses will be weak, reasoning will be worthless and blame skewed … there is not answer
It is a sad situation 16 innocent dead and 1 hero lost forever -

Not to mention, he was on his 4th tour....its an atrocity, but the man certainly served his country in 3 previous successful tours!Heretic;1114842 wrote:That brave and valiant soul who methodically gunned down those horrible civilians.
