I cant believe people actually care about HS Sports. Its beyond me. If you arent in HS or your kids/relatives arent in it, why the fuck does anyone care about 14-17 year old kids?

Because this is the site where teachers hook up with students. Derp.

Honestly though, Laley, why did you join JJHuddle then?

I care about it, because it's my job. I get paid to talk about HS Sports. Others of us are coaches or parents or merely just fans who love the sports and can't shake living in the past. Regardless of the reason, it's what brought most of us together (through JJHuddle).

Who are the noisemakers? Everyone has their own opinions of who the "noisemakers" are.

I joined when I was a SO in HS. To talk about my school/teams. But the majority of the people on this site have no affiliation anymore with HS.

I stayed because I started posted on the other stuff. I didnt really post in HS at all. Now, I cover Toledo Area, so I will occasionally check in on the threads here. But not too much. I just dont see the appeal of HS sports once you are done with them.

Why do people care so much about college sports, if they never attended the university? Many people have more of a connection with either their HS alma mater or the town where they reside, than they do any college/pro team.

If all but 10 regulars left this site, I would be most of you saying you wouldn't go back would change your opinion. You may re-register with a different username and never admit who you are...but I would be you'd go back.

And again, that is why our fearless leader needs to find some way to counter what JJHuddle may be on the verge of doing.

I will truly miss being called a *** and being mocked for my drunken breakdown and suicide threats if this site goes away. Seriously, the insults and banter is fun. That wont happen over there.
I'm still not sure why you believe there would only be room for one or the other. Actually, when there is more competition, sometimes everyone thrives.

To counter their move I'm just going to shut this bitch down. Make it easy on everyone.

Good point. Maybe it was growing up in a city, and not a town with just 1 or 2 HS.

But, college sports are much bigger. They are national and have a much larger fan base. So of course people will care more about them. Because its national, you get banter and such on a much larger scale.

I believe a pretty large percentage of the membership would agree on a handful of names.

Same thing can be said for college or professional sports.

Sometimes you are cheering for family, friends or their children compete. Can also be you love the sport and the fact they are HS kids does not matter.
example- I attend Walsh Ironman, which is the #1 ranked HS wrestling tourny in the country. It's practically a college meet, as for level of competition. The fact it's HS kids does not matter. It's just awesome wrestling.

The only time I ever go back is when someone posts something about them here. I doubt I'll go back even if it's free.

In some places, perhaps even most. In others, pro sports are everything, and college means little. In a few (i.e. Cincinnati), high school is first.

    Name some names then.

There is nothing left for me over there. I first joined for the wrestling forum. It was worth the $15.00 for me to be able to follow the teams in my area. After a couple of years those from my area moved over to Yappi so I got my info there. Then I discovered the ST/I forum and mainly hung out there. There is no possible way now that I could post daily over there after experiencing the freedom of posting here. That would be like having sex with a condom. Who the hell wants to be over-moderated. You can already see that they are still deleting posts over there in the 'free again' thread, so it doesn't appear that much has changed. Remember they have rules and then make up rules on their own to suit them. (JJ)

They screwed up and and now they know it. If they would have handled it different then it might be a different story. It's amazing now the Matt is all Mr. Nice guy and stating how he doesn't own own the site and always wanted it to be free. Nice damage control. He could have answered questions directed to him back when they went to pay, instead he chose not to and answer it's only $12.00, just 99 cents a month...just like others have stated it was totally mishandled. Don't forget that some people didn't have to pay because they were 'Quality posters' (at least one person). The whole afterthought that Vets didn't have to pay...I guess it was just SOME Vets as I am a Vet and it didn't apply to me, but banning did. Of course I wouldn't play the I'm a Vet card as I'm proud I served, but that was over 20 years ago and I don't feel like I need special treatment for it.

How childish is it they they ban Justin because he started a Bulletin Board and others then others just for joining it. Then the certified letter on top of it. Fuck them they showed me their true colors. They took a good thing and tried to get greedy with it only to now realize that they failed.

I like this post so much that I repped this post, sent you a cookie through PM and you have the option to bang my wife next time you are in town.

But seriously, the type of people who are insanely serious about HS sports drive a forum to be like JJ huddle. I like to see my HS's scores and talk a little bit of trash during the playoffs. This forum totally allows for that with casual HS sports forums. The serious HS sports forums and the type of posters it brings with it? JJhuddle can have them.

P.S. I signed up on JJ Huddle when I was a freshman in HS.

A matter of degree IMO. Taking in the occasional HS game can be fun. OTOH, a 40 year-old man to whom high school sports are actually the most important thing in his life is creepy. Chris Hansen-level creepy. LJ is right (did I type that?), the other site can have those people.

That kind of proves my point. IN Cincy HS may be bigger. But as a whole, I doubt anyone else gives a shit about Cincy HS. But they do care about Xavier, Bearcats and the Pro Teams. More people care about those things on a bigger scale, so they have a much more massive appeal.

If I cared a lot about HS sports what would I do with it? No one outside the surrounding area cares. With college and pro you can talk about it and debate it with anyone who likes sports. I guess thats my point. You get on these forums and you are debating with a population of a couple Ohio Counties.

I have the scores from every football game my HS has ever played tattooed on my body. I'm almost out of room.

And perhaps that is where the hangup is. I can understand enjoying a game every once in awhile, but I cant and wont understand people who plan their social lives around Friday Night sports when their only tie is living in the district or being an alum.

I have my picture on my alma mater's sports Wall of Fame multiple times (not for personal achievment, but for teams I was a part of that were historic for my school) and I will never understand people like that. The only reason I even feel like I have an actual want for my future children to play sports there is the fact that 5 generations of my family have played for the district or a school absorbed by the district.
