bigdaddy2003What happens if you fail the eye test when you go to renew your license?
-
pepperpotYou should not be on the road if you fail that eye test, get to the eye doctor for some glasses !
-
bigdaddy2003lol I'm not saying I will fail it. I can see fine to drive but the eye test machine is bunk. The regular eye test on the wall where you cover your eye with your hand seems much more practical.
-
iluvzThe regular eye test on the wall doesn't have little flashing light on the side to be able to check your peripheral vision.
-
Little DannyI don't think you actually "Fail" it, but they can restrict your license to daytime use or something.
-
vikingfan74This was a concern of mine the last time I went as well. The guy in front of me read Line 2 on the chart so I memorized what he said. When I stepped up with much trepidation the lady behind the counter said, "Read Line 1 please." After three failed attempts at reading it she said, "Why don't you try Line 2."
Jackpot. -
Shane FalcoYou have to sit in your car so you can just see over the wheel and keep your left turn signal on!
-
noreply66I know of a guy that they took his old license that wasn't quite ran out and he nothing to drive on.
-
iclfan2I went to the eye doctor and he said my vision is fine, although my right eye is worse than the left. So I went to a testing place that makes you stick your head on this machine to look at the letters. Well I couldn't see a thing when I had to use just my right I so I turned my head so that my left eye could see it and I got it right. I just moved to NC and I'm worried about getting a new license because I might fail it.
-
Benny The JetThey give you a restriction on your license where you have to have some sort of corrective lenses on when you drive. Just had that put on mine when I got it renewed.

yeah...you need glasses. -
darbypitcher22that stinks dude
-
redstreak oneJust turned 40 and had my vision tested, near perfect 20/20!
-
NateThey remove your eyeballs so you can't ever drive again.
-
4cards...I have no problem with the flashing lights on either side, it's what's straight ahead that messes me up!
-
alwaysafanI have contact lenses in both eyes, but sometimes if I lose a lens (or am running low) it might take me a day or two to put a new one in. I can see fine with only one in; barely even notice it. However, I went to renew my license and forgot all about it by the time I walked up to the counter to take the eye test. The lady tested my right eye--could see great. Then my left. I could not read a thing. I told her I had no lens in my left eye, and she asked "Oh, do you have the lenses where you only wear one in each eye?" I asked, "What?" Because I had never heard of this setup. "Oh, you must have the prescription wear you only wear one at a time." (as if I did not know what prescription I had). Well, I shrugged my shoulders, she gave me the license, and off I went!
(For the record: I have both lenses in right now.) -

raiderbuckThe only thing they'll do is mark your license with the "B" restriction. Which just means you wear (or should be) wearing corrective lenses. If you "fail" it enough, they won't renew your license. But you should be fine.
I have the B restriction on my license. Had it since I turned 21. -
dlazzI wouldn't worry about it. The amount of old people on the road has assured me that the eye-test is very lenient.

Agreed.dlazz wrote: I wouldn't worry about it. The amount of old people on the road has assured me that the eye-test is very lenient. -
se-alumThe eye test is pretty lenient. I wear glasses, but the lady let me "try it" w/o them, I passed and didn't have to get the restriction. However, I always wear my glasses when I drive, as I find no reason not to.
-
bigdaddy2003I am probably just being paranoid. I can't remember how I did last time I had to do it and it just worried me because I have to get it renewed before the 20th.
-
hang_looseGet them tested!!!. Its not worth hitting or something worse to a kid going to school or coming home. That kid could be a relative or neighbor of yours.
Don't take a chance.....Play it safe. -
bigdaddy2003^I have no problem seeing things when I am driving. The only thing I have a problem with is reading some things at the bottom of the tv screen.
