How to argue with sleeper
-
sleeper1. Ask for links for anything he posts.
2. After he has provided back up for these posts, with peer reviewed studies, find a flaw in the study or say it doesn't cover word for word what sleeper said in his post.
3. Never post any link to any study to back up your posts
4. When in doubt, post meme's like "herpderp" (The Law of LJ)
5. Call sleeper names, after all he's just a troll, and you won't be given an infraction point(The Law of C4F)
6. If nothing else works, take a jab at a top 20 university in the country(Academically, Top 1 Athletically and Academically)
7. Be jealous and hate on.

Fly4FunWhere's your link? It's probably flawed anyways.
We recently did an informal survey of posters that came to the result that 99% of posters think everything you say is ridiculous.
QQ moar you trolling idiot.
OSU the number one athletic and academic? Stanford has something to say about that.
Seriously though, this thread just looks like sour grapes to me. -

Stanford is good at all the non-revenue producing sports that no one cares about. I'll pass.Fly4Fun;1081078 wrote:Where's your link? It's probably flawed anyways.

Define non-revenue producing sports? Do you mean revenue as just income? I'm not sure which sports they do or don't sell tickets for. Or do you mean sports that turn a profit? There are very few of those at any college. Heck, even most football programs don't even turn a profit at the college level.sleeper;1081084 wrote:Stanford is good at all the non-revenue producing sports that no one cares about. I'll pass.
However, being such a big proponent of doing things the right way, I would think a person as yourself would realize that the goal of college athletics isn't not should it be to turn a profit. The main goal should be providing a well rounded educational experience for all students. That is the point of any program at the University/College level, whether it be sports, extra educational opportunities such as engineering teams building race cars, or arts related such as plays, music, etc.
To put an emphasis on only sports that turn a profit would go directly against the college experience, one that you claim OSU strives at.
Therefore your comment is in direct contradiction to your supposed values. -

Basketball and football are the only sports that matter in the world of college sports. I'm sorry that I have to clarify everything, maybe I will add that to the OP. Stanford has 1 BCS bowl win. That is not good. They rarely do anything in CBB either.Fly4Fun;1081104 wrote:Define non-revenue producing sports? Do you mean revenue as just income? Oh, so your opinion differs from that of the school. I believe it was a couple weeks ago you tried making the argument that Stanford only won the Director's Cup (best sports program) because they had less programs than OSU and OSU was so great because it offered those opportunities. I believe I pointed out that Stanford offered only a total of 2-4 less sports overall (I forget the exact number). At that point you just ignored my post.sleeper;1081112 wrote:Basketball and football are the only sports that matter in the world of college sports. Now you are advancing the argument that the other sports don't matter and only Football and Basketball counts? I thought you believed that OSU was amazing because of how good the school is at everything (Academically and Athletically). Well part of being a good school is providing opportunities or all of the students, not just the ones that want to play sports that could potentially make money. It's students first (not money); I thought you knew that?
Funny how you like to change your argument so often. You praise OSU for being so well rounded, then on the next breath talk about how only 2 sports matter and essentially saying being well rounded isn't important. -
Skyhook79I just hope fly4fun doesn't shut this thread down or move it to the politics forum because someone questions him.

I do however move threads to the politics forum... but that's because they are political. I guess that just makes too much sense. -

Forgive me for not caring about Stanford's rifle team winning the National Championship. I doubt you'll find anyone serious about parading the Director's cup as the be all end all decision to decide who has the best sports. CFB and CBB are the only sports that matter. I would certainly feel happy for them, but I would not use that to further my agenda that OSU is the #1 school, academically and athletically.xKoToVxSyNdRoMe;1081153 wrote:If OSU won the rifle Championship or Directors Cup you would blow you wad allover yourself.
