All DeyDurkie5 wants for Christmas is.....

And if you want to know where I'm going with this, here you go:

You say that it's a sin. So I'm assuming that you think God and Heaven and all that is completely real. In other words, you have a lot of faith in that. And that's fine too, but how do you know? You don't, you've just put your faith in that and you believe it. The Bible may just be a collection of fictional stories written as an interpretation of a good way to live--that doesn't mean that everyone fits that mold, clearly, and it doesn't mean that someone who doesn't leads a bad life. If a homosexual is a walking sin then you assume that God is real but you don't know for sure, so how can you say for sure that he is a sinner when you can't even be sure that what you believe is real? (And you can't, as much as I'm sure you are sure, you can't be) Basically what I'm saying is you can believe what you want--I would never hold it against you for being a religious person. But the problem is religion is it closes your mind and you can't prove that anything you put your faith into is even real anyways. What is the purpose of attacking someone for a personal choice--it's fine if he's a sinner in your eyes, but why do you care? Don't you think that taking time out of your life to be critical of the way someone else is living their life is just as much a sin? Does your faith tell you to police others? You want people to accept what you believe without regard for anything else, and that's fine--most of us don't care what you believe. But you should give a homosexual the same respect.

This is a prime example of how religion causes thousands of more problems than it solves.

I can give tons of reasons in how I know He is In other words, you have a lot of faith in that. And that's fine too, but how do you know? I can prove it in many ways What is the purpose of attacking someone for a personal choice--it's fine if he's a sinner in your eyes, but why do you care? I havent attacked no one on being gay, if you read my earlier post. I love everyone the same and dont treat gays any different Don't you think that taking time out of your life to be critical of the way someone else is living their life is just as much a sin? Where was I being critical. The Bible is what I go off of, and I will go by that over what some forum poster says Does your faith tell you to police others? I dont police others, Im there to help You want people to accept what you believe without regard for anything else, and that's fine--most of us don't care what you believe. But you should give a homosexual the same respect. As I said, I respect everyone. But when someone is gay, they cant run a church unless they turn away from the bad things in their life. Its called being born again. Jesus didnt come here to die for us, for people to be forgiven and keep living in the same ways.

This is a prime example of how religion causes thousands of more problems than it solves.
My answers are in your post. If you want other answers, ask the millions of Christians who are out there, or go to a church, pick up a Bible...etc. No matter what answer I give, you and others are going to try to pick it apart and this topic will never end.
And Im sure you have a view of me without even meeting me or seeing me, and thats fine.. But I hang out with many people who dont go to church or anything, and they all love having me as a friend. I dont force my faith on anyone unless they ask me a question, I will answer it.
And also, Im there for anyone on this site and would meet anyone to discuss things.
Plus, I havent forced Bible things on anyone on this site until this thread, which people asked me for it. Ive said that saying Happy Holidays shouldnt be said over Merry Christmas and that a rule is misleading, and thats it. Oh, besides my Bible verse as my sig. So, I dont know why people keep making the religious jokes or say that Im trying to force my faith down peoples throats.
    Going to bed, later.

    Being gay is a sin.

    Signed,
    Catholic Priests

Catholic priests have been doing young boys for centuries, yet gay people can't run churches? I think they already are, sorry to inform you.

    Wow, sweet response man.

Both should be banned. It's starting to get annoying all the bashing now.

    Cats,

All those passages and everything you just mentioned are talking about homosexual acts. Once again, I repeat... Being gay is NOT a sin. Committing homosexual acts is a sin (in the eyes of some people, but I strong disagree).

    There is a big difference.

I really can't believe you take the stance that people can choose not to be gay... seriously, the idea of "turning people straight" has gone by the wayside a long time ago.

On a side note, i attended a more "liberal" Lutheran church at one point, and we had a homosexual pastor. His partner was sitting in the front row every service. They were deeply in love, and served as a great example to all young couples in the church wanting to start a committed, loving relationship.

He was the most "godly" man i've ever run across and had the pleasure to know, truly a wonderful human being.

If he doesn't go to heaven becaues of his "sinful" ways, then Christianity is a joke.

exactly...using the bible to justify yourself with facts is like telling people you can fly and using harry potter to prove it.

CGW, are we following Rule #1? It doesn't seem like it to me. We can call someone out, but we aren't supposed to make it personal. Sure seems personal to me. Yes, he made it personal first, but you could have ended the issue there and been the bigger man. Guess you don't have it in you.

    Was it Father Pfleger?

Yes, they both made it personal... as do a lot of people. But we generally let people have their arguments run their course unless they become extremely over the top and problematic. As mods we aren't here to just start banning people and keep you hooligans in line. This is a place to have discussions, arguments and fun. Sometimes they get a bit heated... people say curse words, people have insults. But as long as it's not too over the top we let it go on. One of the things we have talked about a lot in the mod lounge is we don't want to turn this place in to JJ.

We don't want to have a slippery slope where more words become filtered as people think of new ways to insult people or voice displeasure. We don't want mods to start banning people because of personal differences. It takes a decent amount to actually get banned from here if you can't tell. We're trying to provide a place for people to be who they are (As long as it's not too over the top).

If you don't like the freedom that we provide... then that's fine. You have the freedom to complain about that (can you say that about other places). We aren't going to delete your threads because we don't like them. We aren't going to silence you. But we will however let people respond to your posts in the same manner that you make them.

I agree with the idea of banning people being very much a last resort. If anything, perhaps closing a small number of threads with an exceptionally low signal to noise ratio may be worth considering.
