As a fan notre dame loss to USC in 05.
    The 97 ws.
    The 07 series vs Boston
Personally my junior year football all we had to do is win to make the playoffs and we scored with 10 sec left and missed the xp to lose 28-27 against Seneca east

Our coach apparently snubbed a good Shadyside player for an all-star game a few years prior. So Shadyside coach got back at us by running up the score in the playoffs. (Note that Shadyside made the finals that year and beat every other team up til the finals by about 40 points).

I was only a sophomore and special teams player that year, so it wasnt much my fault.
Was this a few years ago when they lost to DSJ in the finals?

Last game of Senior year HS basketball, just remember sitting in the locker room after the game and knowing that it was all over. Hard to swallow at the time with all the great memories.

Ohio state losing to Kentucky last year in basketball. Really felt all year OSU had the perfect team built to win a title and that one just hurt more then any other OSU loss in basketball or football for me
The football and basketball national title losses to Florida and Jim Jackson's 92 buckeyes losing to the fab 5 in the reginald final would be next

They were by far the best team in the state that year, any division.

I got beat by 27 strokes when I played college golf. Not a good day
What about the day you lost your rep power?

As a fan the losses for DSJ against Smithville and Columbus Academy-both in the semifinals

I played hs football down south. My sophomore year, our team was undefeated during the regular season and was billed at the time as the best team in school history. We won the 1st round of the playoffs convincingly. The next week, we were up on a school 20-7 at halftime and thought we had the game in the bag since we were athletically superior. Of course, the second half was a disaster. Our all-world rb blows out his knee early in the second half and they tied up 20-20 at the end of regulation and sent it to overtime. We scored on the 1st series but our kicker missed the PAT!! We lost the game 27-26.... heartbreaking.

My last football game was the loss that hurt the most for me. Lost to Shadyside 14-3 in the playoffs(Shadyside also ended by basketball career). I cried like a baby. Winningest class in school history. Only lost 8 games in 4 years including playoffs, 4 of which came freshman year.

Delaware County Cup in golf my senior year of high school. Was -1 through 15 holes...and finished triple, double, bogey to shoot 77 and come in second. Biggest choke job you have ever seen.

As a player it was the 1999 D2 football state championship. We were leading 18-12 late in the 4th when we gave up a td and lost by a point.

As a fan it was the 2006 NC game loss to Florida when we got our asses handed to us 41-14.

The worst loss I tool as a player was at the district meet my senior year. I probably could have qualified for regionals if I had focused on one event, but we had 4 guys who were decent 800M runners so we thought we had a decent shot to go pretty far in 3200 relay. (I went to a small shitty school and making the state tournament would have been HUGE for our school.) One of our guys ran 10 seconds slower than he had all year and told us afterwards that he was trying to save something for his other events. (He didn't qualify there either.) I still hate that guy.

As a fan, it was the 2006 OSU/Florida game. I've never been so confident going into a game and been so disappointed.

As a fan, I can think of three.
Notre Dame losing to USC in '05. Was on such a high when Zibby returned the punt for 6. And felt absolutely crushed when Ambrose came within inches of knocking down Leinart's fourth down pass that would have sealed it. And then was crushed even further during the Bush Push.

Mooney losing to Coldwater in '05 was also brutal. After losing DJK, Mooney got absolutely smoked, 33-9.

Mooney losing to Coldwater in '07 was even worse. With Danny McCarthy hurt, I couldn't believe Mooney was going to have to play Coldwater again without their star player. But Mooney fought back, and scored. All they needed was the extra point to tie it, and it was blocked. Ended up losing 28-27.

As a player, we got absolutely crushed senior year in a golf match against Warren JFK. In our defense, that was Jason Kokrak's senior year. He is now on the PGA Tour. So it wasn't like we should have won anyways.

That's rough man, my senior year we went 16-4 and 3 of our losses were by 3 points or less. Then we lost in the second round of the tournament to a team that shot the lights out, rough as hell. I just remember it being silent in the locker room and looking around at the look on everyone's faces, never forget that.

Player probably last varsity basketball game, lost in the district final, didn't help that two of my senior teammates were angry at each other over a girl and almost got into a fight BEFORE the game.

Fan definitely the '98 Ohio St.-Michigan St. football game.

Senior year in football we lost to Dublin Coffman in the Regional Finals 42-35. I cried like a baby afterwords, its an awful feeling knowing you will never put on football pads again the rest of your life.

OSU FL sucked, mostly because OSU was the better team, they just forgot to show up.
  • Dr Winston O'Boogie
1998 Ohio State's 28-24 loss to MSU. Buckeyes were clearly the best team in the country that year. I've never the Horseshow so quiet as after that game. It was like filing out of a funeral.

As a spectator........2 come to mind...Steelers losing to the Broncos in the AFC Championship game. I can still hear Elways voice echoing through Three Rivers Stadium after the game was over...it was like a morgue in there.
2nd, was when my brother was in the state football finals against Justin Zwick. We fell down quick, hit a big pass with like min to go to take the lead, only to lose the lead with like 20 seconds to go. Heartbreaking loss...and it was even worse when we get home and see the news feed that the WR who scored the winning TD dropped the ball in the end zone. Ball slid all the way down to his body to the ground. two of our defenders signaled no catch, but I just figrued that was natural, but when a local station who had their camera guy about 10 ft away showed it.......well..it was quite sickening. Ya almost wish it was a clean catch instead of knowing that it was dropped but ruled a catch.

As a player.....losing in the state finals on a passed ball/wild pitch against Hamilton Badin the bottom of extra innings. I have two state titles as bookends but the one that got away is one I think about more than the two that we won.

Fan: Don't know if it was the Steelers loss to Dallas in the Super Bowl one year...or their loss to San Diego in the AFC Championship the year before. For San Diego, Pittsburgh was WAY better on paper, but spent the week leading into it talking like they were already in the Super Bowl. And then Tim McKyer got burnt on two huge pass plays by Stan Fucking Humphries. But in the Super Bowl, I got to watch Dallas win because Neil O'Donnell single-handedly made some piece of shit safety a very high paid man with two gift interceptions.

Competitor: Probably when I was on the OU Frisbee team and we lost in club college regionals my senior year. I'd probably had more fun there and finally learned to relax, have fun and not treat wins and losses as some end-of-world thing. And then, it seemed as soon as I got that stuff through my head, it was over.

Even though that SB was a much bigger game, of course, i stll think that SD loss was more heartbreaking. The steelers took them W A Y too lightly and shoulds beat them like a drum. Losing the SB sucks, but Dallas was just that good. A couple of bad reads by WR's made ODonnel look bad but they were gashing holes with their mammoth line. Dall beats the steelers easily in a 7 game series....but that SD team...steelers should beat them most every time

1993 Div IV OHSAA Regional Final basketball game against Lynchburg Clay - To be that close to the state tourney and loose after all the hard work I had put into my career and did not reach my ultimate goal by 1 crappy game that we played!!!

Runner Up - 1992 Div IV District Final - Got beat by Hiland after leading 20-5 after 1st quarter. We had a deeper team this year and would have made it to state (Hiland won the State that year).

    As a fan:

#1 The Drive and Elway crushing the Browns' dreams
#2 Indians Game 7 World Series loss to Marlins
#3 Indians American league collapse to Boston after being up 3-1 and having the Rockies waiting (2 Championship rings they should have!!!)
