I'm surprised they have made it to Ohio.

The mere thought of "ice" beers makes me want to throw up, but they will get you fucked up real quick.

Last Thursday, there was a Dogfish Head "tap takeover" night at 4th Street Bar near OSU. They had 11 different types on tap, I enjoyed the 90 Minute and Faithfull Ale, but this was absolutely delicious and possibly my new favorite beer:

Midas Touch is my favorite Dogfish. But I've only had two of theirs -- that and a chicory stout.

Adolphus Busch didn't. When WW2 came about, many of the ingredients that went into American beer were rationed for the war effort, so the crap beer we get now is what they had to get by with. After the war, American beer makers (long after Adolphous Busch had died) decided that it was more profitable to continue this type of brewing thus American beer (once hailed as the best beer in the world) became shit. Fucking Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor and ruining our beer.

Love the Midas Touch as well...the Chicory stout I don't like so much. Hellhound is Awesome. Getting hard to find.

Its beer for people who don't like beer. Sure....its genius marketing but that doesn't make it a good beer. I could just picture that board meeting in the early 80's:

"OK guys, we need to grow.....reach an untapped market. I was thinking: how about people that don't like beer? What we'll do is water it down to the point that people who don't like beer will tolerate it so that they can pretend with their friends that they are beer drinkers!"

Bud Select, Michelob Ultra, Bud Light Lime, Bud Light Wheat, etc etc were all just extensions of the same strategy: keep watering it down and/or adding flavor until we reach a new market segment. Coming soon: Bud Light Water, Bud Light Chocolate Milk, Bud Light Wine.....

Here's how you can tell a good beer from shit beer: drink it at room temperature. Bullshit beers like Bud Light add chemicals and things that make the beer have less flavor at colder temperature. The result is, a beer that goes down smooth when cold but taste like skunk piss when warm due to those chemicals no longer affecting it. Beers that are brewed simply on flavor alone do not suffer this fate. Taste them at room temperature and they largely taste the same. Some might taste slightly better (but most are still better cold).

    End of beer snob rant.
    I heart you Mooney44!

I'd give you reps, but my rep power is zero...thanks Justin.

Bud Light wasn't made until 1982.

That is a great Imperial IPA. If you are into Barley Wine Style try their Behemoth.

I thought it very good, but not great. I think I expected more from it, but a top 20 beer for sure.

lol, yeah what is the point of posting a pic of your latest beer hardon in this thread?

"zomg I had a glass of this last night and it was absolutely fantastic."

All these pictures of random beers that most people have never heard of just reinforces the idea that beer snobs have no life. I've tried a variety of beers, some that I can't even remember the name, some were "good", but I'd never go around being like "Hey your beer sucks, have you ever tried X53 Lager Double Toasted Buffalo from Germany's West Hamburg? Now that is a great beer, not shitty stuff like what you are drinking".

Actually Troegs has been around since the mid 90's. They just moved to Hershey from Harrisburg. They have been available in Ohio for many years.

I knew they were in Harrisburg for a long time but I never knew they delivered to Ohio. The new facility in hershey is very nice. A smart location too. It's right by the park and the outlets.

Had some last night. I thought it was alright. Not great, didn't have a lot of flavor. I would drink it again, if it wasn't $6.99 a sixer and $11.99 a 12.

I tried it and did not like. I do like Bud Light but to me this had a weird finish, I couldn't quite describe the taste but I thought it was a dirty tasting finish, could be the increase in alc compared to normal BL but I'll stick to normal Bud Light.

QQ more that you drink shitty beer.

If someone tried to tell me that Mcdonalds or BK actually makes a good burger I'd make fun of/try to show them some decent burgers too.

I had a Woodchuck Cider(Granny Smith) and a Strongbow tonight and both tasted better than any beer I've ever had. Thought I'd bring some variety to the beer discussion. :)
