Columbus cable TV/Internet

  • The Answer
What's the best deal in Cbus? Wow, time Warner or AT&T? Interested in what's the best deal or quality in Columbus area. Looking for Hd ,DVR and high speed Internet service....Any thoughts good or bad on any of them

I have insight and it's ok. Wow is the worst by far tw is ok about the same as insight. AT&T if available is more expensive but has faster Internet and way more channels. If uverse was available in my area it would be my first choice bc I feel like the extra ten bucks is well worth it but we record a lot of tv and I play xbox a lot.

Actually Time Warner offers much faster internet at a lower cost (for what you'd pay for 12 mbps with AT&T you can get 30 mbps from Time Warner). You can actually get Time Warner's second fastest plan for $13 less per month than AT&T's fastest plan (which is slower).

TV is basically going to be the same. Might get a few more channels, but who really needs 600 channels? The biggest advantage with AT&T is that you can record 4 shows at once. Time Warner does have Start Over and Look Back, so being able to record four shows at once probably isn't going to be that big of a deal (except you can't fast forward with Look Back and Start Over).

I've had Time Warner for over two year and Columbus and have been very happy. I've almost never had an outage, and whenever I've had any problems I've called and they took care of it immediately.

At&t wanted $20 more per month to get the same channels I have now, but less in HD.

LJ TW may say they give you that many mbps but you will only get that under optimal circumstances. You would have to be one of the only people in your area with TW and not be a heavy bandwidth user. If there are a lot of people in your area you will actually be sharing speed with them. Also TW throttles heavy users slowing down their Internet while AT&T does not use a throttle based system.

As far as the channels go the u400 or 600 beats out anything insight or TW offers like I said it's more expensive but you get much better service. They also include channels like fox soccer in their basic package vs having to pay for a sports pack with the rest.

The 600 was comparable to what I have, but for more money. I also get Fox Soccer HD and dont pay for a sports pack. I also get NFL Network games.

Also, I have Insight RR and get the speed I pay for according to speedtest.net.

    I don't have cable. I do have the second-from-the-top fastest Road Runner connection and it's $59.95 a month. 30mbps down, 5mbps up.
