Movie - "They Grey"

    B+ or A-

You knew it was going to be a bleak film going in but I loved how it tied together.

Roger Ebert said in his review "stay through the end credits"

    I didn't. I must've missed another scene.

Free movie screenings in Columbus weekly....

No catches, free... The worst part is getting to theater early and standing in line.

    You didn't miss much.

I thought it was ok, nothing great but not bad either.

I really enjoyed it. I'd probably give it a solid B. it was a tad slow at times but not bad. Did anyone stay after the credits? Liam is a bad-ass.
  • Laley23
Yeah, I didnt stay after the credits. Didnt know about it. Anyone want to post a spoiler about the scene we missed?

    ******SPOILER ALERT*****

Post credits showed a man in a protective suit, presumbably Liam, getting mauled and then humped by a police dog while the cops laughed at him. Looked like it might have been staged but somebody forgot to tell the german shepherd.

    ***SPOILER***

The last scene was the alpha wolf lying on the ground bloody. Still breathing though.

Even though it was an open, ambiguous ending it was still an appropriate ending in my opinion. With Neeson reciting the poem again and getting ready for the last fight. Very intense and climactic. Also the scene where he was screaming for help from God. Awesome work. He carried the film, no question.

Agreed. I like to believe he smoked the Alpha Wolf but then got pummeled by the rest lol. The movie was pretty realistic in how 1 man gave up, the others didnt survive. The way they had it set up, and the way the movie progressed it makes sense for him to die as well. Not everything is a happy ending. I liked that they left it up for discussion, but I believe he died.

I liked that they made it realistic. Not having all the guys survive. Having the one guy give up, having the wolves pick them off 1 by 1. I dont know if wolves actually hunt like that or not, but it certainly is plausible...and honestly, most of the stuff seemed "real". So I dont really know what MartyIrish was talking about.

Wolves don't hunt humans, they will stay as far away as they can from us.

Guarantee you that I can google "wolves attack humans" and over 10,000 hits to disprove that fact. It's like saying the movie is dumb because that is 100% impossible to happen. Which is not true, wolves typically avoid humans, but attacks have and will continue to happen.

    First hit btw:

Wild wolves are generally timid around humans. Wolves usually try to avoid contact with people, to the point of even abandoning their kills when an approaching human is detected

From the same entry on wiki lol

Specifically about the grey wolf: "Retired wolf biologist Mark McNay compiled 80 events in Alaska and Canada where wolves closely approached or attacked people, finding 39 cases of aggression by apparently healthy wolves, and 29 cases of fearless behavior by non-aggressive wolves.[16]"

I wasn't too big a fan of this movie. I don't know something about it I didn't really like. It was too "jumpy" for me I guess, I fucking hate movies that make you jump, unless it's a horror movie where I know it's coming.

I also wanted to see a little more survivor scenes, and thought it really just turned into humans vs wolves instead of some bear grylls shit.

    I don't know. I gave it a C.

What part(s) made you jump? I can think of a few that mightve made someone jump, but I did not personally. Just curious.
