Gotta watch it with the sound on. I literally laughed out loud when they zoomed in on the dude's face, blood pouring from his nose, and a voice from off screen goes, "Allright, settle down!" like it was just some stunt or something.

Yeah I finally did. I didn't laugh out loud but some of the reactions were just weird. Then again, I can't even imagine how I'd react if I witnessed something like that. Who knows.

There is no proof that he was innocent, he was found guilty. However, even if he was innocent, why would he kill himself? I doubt that he was completely innocent in this entire thing. If he was innocent you work the appeals process. BTW, his co-defendant served a 1 year sentence and is back in politics according to the Budd Dwyer wiki page.

If only Mr. Dwyer could have waited a day and received his sentence and then appealed and proved his innocense.

In PA law, at the time, there was a loophole that convicted politicians could still serve up until they were sentenced. Dwyer killed himself one day before his sentencing ensuring his family a $1.28 million pension payout.

Why not include EVERYTHING in the source that you cited?
In the film, William Smith, the man whose testimony led to the conviction of Dwyer, stated that he had lied under oath in order to get a better sentencing for himself, thus revealing the accusations against Dwyer to be false.

And? Just because the guy lied about some of the stuff doesn't mean that Dwyer was totally innocent of everything. An innocent man doesn't kill himself, he appeals and uses the system. The guy killed himself before he was even sentenced, something is not right there. He was involved somehow, not to the degree that he was accused, but he was involved.

Could it be, the pressures were just way too much for him to handle? It's hard to tell.

There have been numerous people sentenced and thrown in the clanker, even executed, while still being innocent. At the same time, people pointed fingers and convicted people guilty even when the innocence was still there.

    That stuff happens.

    It was hard to watch.

Agreed you almost have to watch it. The chainsaw wasn't as bad. The knife was pretty tough to get through.
  • Fab1b
The part that was crazy was as they were taking to the first guy with the chainsaw the other dude (now I know he was bound and couldn't go anywhere or anything) just basically sat there straight faced. Guess he knew he was doomed and confined to that fact but I would have been freaking the fuck out!

Also I haven't read back up through most of these posts but does any that watched it know what they were saying or why they were being killed?

Yeah, I agree with that. Watching him lying there...his hands bound behind his back and moving around as they were cutting through his neck...that was kind of hard to watch. That's how I guesstimated when he died...when his hands/fingers stopped moving around.
  • Fab1b
I was thinking the chainsaw clipped his arm as well.

I realize it happens, I just don't believe it is the case in this situation. The guy lied about the length of Dwyer's involvement. This doesn't mean Dwyer was not involved. Also, he hadn't even been sentenced yet. I just find the timing odd. I realize politicians are usually squeeky clean, but I think in this case that he was involved somehow.

They were saying "did you catch that game last night? I can't believe we lost in overtime! Fuckers!!!!"

Wow. I wasn't expecting so much discussion about chainsaw snuff videos when I clicked this thread.

Whether Dwyer was guilty or not, I think his message about improving the justice system is (was) a pretty good one. It's obviously terrific compared to many other countries, but it has some pretty major deficiencies in my opinion.

Wow, that was rough. Kinda wish I hadn't watch the beheading video. Had to look away shortly after they started hacking through the second guys throughout with that knife.

Shit like that will make you lose faith in humanity, eh?
