When I was 16 and 17 I worked at the local park. Doing the diamonds, working on baseball fields, working with the kids on baseball and basketball and such. First year was $1.80 an hour. second year was around $2.15 an hour becuase of the yearly raise and the fact they upped even the starting pay.

Dont know why it didnt have to be min wage...it was part time summer work so maybe that was it. Paid every other week and got about 30-35 hrs in per week. Thinking back my summers were balls to the wall packed back then. Work from 830 till 3 or later, get to the diamond for baseball around 5-530 and not back home again until after 9pm after the games!

Technically minimum wage is a lot higher given that most on minimum wage receive federal assistance.

I'm aware that's not what he asked, but still. I don't feel sorry for those making minimum wage and I'd support any bill that eliminated a minimum wage.

During my early teenage years I worked at a movie store. I would go get the movies behind the counter the people wanted to rent and I would hang the chips back up to show the movie was there to rent. I was paid 5 bones and hour under the table.

At 19 I worked 7 days a week at a pizza shop. I did a little bit of everything but my main job was delivering. It was mininum wage plus tips.

I worked at a grocery store when I turned 16. I was a bagger then promoted to a cashier. Food stamps were a pain! After 3 months, I decided I wanted to play sports so I called them and said I could only work Sundays. They told me I'd have to pick the job or sports and I said, okay, we'll I'm going to play basketball.
