If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now...

I am 22 and I can acknowledge that Led Zeppelin is probably the greatest musical act ever.

They are as close to perfect as anyone I have heard.

Love Pink Floyd, The Who, not as much. I love Zeppelin - I think my favorite might be Kashmir, but there are so many great songs.

I am also 22 and I second this.

Zeppelin is solid. I don't think they'd even crack my personal top 10 though.

That's fine, everyone likes different things. I'm interested in knowing what your personal top 10 is though.

I turned 36 yesterday and also feel compelled to at least partially endorse this. They were so proficient at just about any style they wanted to use in a song. I don't know if I'd go as far as "greatest musical act ever", but they're definitely top 5 for me.

I'm not sure they're my personal #1, but I can't disagree with purple saying they're as close to perfect as anyone I've heard. I probably wouldn't put them #1--I don't really know, that's a tough thing to rank. I like a lot of different bands for different reasons.

I agree with this post more than anything else you could possibly say on any topic. I listen to a crapload of music in a crapload of genres. I could talk to someone about Zeppelin for a half-hour and then talk to someone else about, say, Norwegian black metal for another half-hour.

I have no musical talent, but love listening to those who do. And nothing is more fun than listening to a group and realizing that from their sound, you know who influenced them. I'm a big fan of Iron Maiden. The first time I heard Zep's Achilles' Last Stand, I realized I'd found a song that had a TON of influence on them. Just listen to their guitar beats and it's apparent.

While Jethro Tull will always be my favorite in classic rock, Zep is still #2. So many great songs...Achilles' Last Stand and When The Levee Breaks are my favs.

    Zeppelin=GOAT

But I have to say, there are about 20 other songs that you could have used that would have been better than Stairway that Zeppelin sang. Stairway is the most popular though. I actually went to a prom whose theme was "Stairway to Heaven" (and that was only 5 years ago).

    My Zep Top 5
    Fool in the Rain
    Achilles Last Stand
    Thank You
    Moby Dick (live)
    Goin to California
Rain Song on Song Remains the Same is very close to being in there as well.

    Top 5
    Ramble On
    Going to California
Over the Hills and Far Away
    Stairway to Heaven
    That's the Way/The Ocean

    That was really tough

Hence the name - The Song Remains The Same is my favorite album followed by ZepI.

I'm 26 and feel the same way as others. My dad force fed me QFM 96.3 and the classics on his vinyl records.

Today's music just ain't got the same soul. I know that's from Bob Seger, but I think it applies here.

Every concert I've ever been to has been from a different generation (minus a few), such as, Eric Clapton, AC/DC, Journey, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, U2, REO Speedwagon, etc... The thing I always wonder is what will I do when all these artists are gone, who do I go see live then?
