Abandoned and Off Limits.

  • Steel Valley Football
Off Limits is great show on the Travel Channel hosted by Don Wildman where he explores places that are off limits to the general public. They've done places in New York, Seattle, LA and several other and every episode I've seen gas been excellent.

Abandonded is a show I caught a few weeks ago, I think, on the History Channel, but then haven't seen listed again. It's kind of Off Limits meets American Pickers. A guy and his two buddies go to abandoned places and try to pick things (after getting permission and paying a fee). The one I saw they picked the Scranton Lace Factory which I guess the worlds largest producer of lace at the turn of the century. He basically was allowed take whatever he could carry out and it was loaded with stuff.

Neither of these shows seemed as staged as some of the reality-type shows we've discussed on here.

Doesn't look too off limits with all that graffiti.

I caught a bit of Abandoned the other day. Seems interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for both show. I love old and abandoned buildings.

I think they included that site because of it's unusual nature/purpose with it being located just outside of the LA city limits. Most are places the public has never been, like the river that Yonkers NY was built on top of. I think that Nazi place made the list because very few even know what it was. My guess is nobody spraying graffiti there knew what it used to be.

Was Abandoned the Scranton one or a different one?

I have caught bits and pieces of "Offlimits", I like what I have seen. I need ot make more of an effort to find out when it is on because I am interested in shows like that.

You didn't catch where they were on the Abandoned you saw? I'm trying to figure out why I could only find one episode ever.

I just checked on The History Channel's website, and they have neither of these shows listed. Odd.

It's been on for like 12 years. Do you live in a cave?

Yes, my cave is off limits, and I'm waiting for him to come find me.

My att guide says it's the Scranton one again. I also found this (apparently it's a new show pending ratings/requests):

I also enjoyed Cities of the Underground, that's a good watch if you have not seen it.

    I watch that also.

Have you ever checked out the websites of the local urban explorers? There are several. I think Abandoned Ohio is one. Lost Ohio is another. They explore local abandoned buidings and old amsement parks and stuff without permission and document it.

No, but I will check those sites out. Last year some younger adults got a wild hair and decided to explore the underground water and storm sewers in our fair city. They ended up getting lost and had to be rescued by the fire department. I guess you have to be smart about this kind of stuff.
