Watching Rocky IV

  • Ironman92
I watched this movie in 6th grade at the movie theatre when it came out and I've watched it a dozen times on tv....but got into it yet again. It's got it's measure of cheesiness....but he just finished his drive to "There's no easy way out" and he's on his way to train in Russia and I'm ready to kick some Russian ass!

This is a movie that didn't hold up over time. I thought it was the best thing ever when I was a kid....now it just appears cheesy.

Knight rider feels the same way for me too.

The movie single handily won the Cold War.

"If I can change, an you can change..then everyone can change!"
Boom, wall comes down, Cold War over haha.

BTW: Who the hell was attracted to Bridgitt Neilson? Apparently Sly was, WTF?

He's like a piece of iron.
  • Ironman92
I love it when they flash to his kid watching the fight late in the bout.

Being 1985 makes it cheesy. I think it holds up well considering....but watching #1 and or #2 first is very important.

I've only seen it in the theaters. Might have to get the DVD now just to see that. I like it better with him losing though in that one.

Yep, typical mid1980s action flick. You can guarantee that at some point in the movie tragedy happens to the hero who in turns gives up. Shortly thereafter we get the part where the hero is traveling in a car/train/bus/motorcycle and they show flashbacks while songs like "No easy way out" blares in the background. Shortly thereafter the hero comes back and says some cheesey line like "Let's do this!".

This formula was not just play in Rocky IV, but it just about every other action flick during this time period...

I still enjoy it even tho the ending speech is kind of embarrassing.

I always laugh when Pauly complains that there is no TV there so how will they watch the Rose Bowl? Well..the fight is on Christmas, the Rose Bowl is a week later.

BUt anyways....never seen the 5th one.... I was surprised with the last one, it wasnt too bad at all actually.
