Question re: Mobile Apps

  • Scarlet_Buckeye
I just had a co-worker tell me about an app his wife uses that allows you to basically turn your phone into all of those little 'store-discount-key-chain-tags' thing, such as Giant Eagle, Speedway, Petco, etc.

My co-worker didn't know the name of it off the top of his head.

Does anyone know which app this might be? I'd love to check this out.

I use Cardstar. They have an iOS, Blackberry, Android, Windows Phone, and ovi app. So you in all probability have a phone that can run it.

You can even make a physical card with several of your accounts on them and have them ship it to you from their website which could be useful.

This has been one of the best discoveries ever. My only problem now is... I have misplaced many of my "loyalty key ring" things. Usually I show up at the stores and simply have them punch in my telephone number and I get my discount. I'd like to be able to simply flash my mobile phone, but I don't want to have to go thru the hassle of creating new "accounts," etc.

You can usually have them send you new cards.

I have heard many times in the past that none of the key ring scanner things actually work when you try to use your phone at the register. Have these keyring apps improved over the last year or so?

Depends a lot on the phone/scanner.
