Scarlet_BuckeyeI have a friend who just had some car work done. If I told you they had their exhaust, muffler, and catalytic converter replaced, how much would you estimate their cost to be?
-
dlazzat least $4.00-$5.00
-
IliketurtlesYear/Make/Model of the car? Catalytic converter's can be pretty expensive depending on the car I believe but I'll guess 800-1000 since you're asking this question I'm going on the high end.
-
THE4RINGZIt was $800 to have the Catalytic Converter on my wife's Mazda Tribute replaced.
-
Fab4RunnerI had the catalytic converter replaced in my old car (94 Saturn) and it was about $400 if I remember correctly. Also just had my exhaust worked on but was lucky enough to have it done for $75. I didn't even have to flash the guy.

Does this county have e-check? If not, I think it all can be done for less than $200.Scarlet_Buckeye;1004469 wrote:I have a friend who just had some car work done. If I told you they had their exhaust, muffler, and catalytic converter replaced, how much would you estimate their cost to be? -

E-Check has been gone for several years.Sonofanump;1004509 wrote:Does this county have e-check? If not, I think it all can be done for less than $200.
Edit: never mind, apparently it hasn't. it should though, since it's fucking pointless. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeMy friend lives in Marblehead and she just paid $1,600 for all of that noted in the original post. I'm thinking she got taken.

Scarlet_BuckeyeHer car is a Subaru. It's one of those "wagon-looking-like" cars. I'm not sure of the year, but I know it's nothing new. If I had to guess, I would guess somewhere around a '97-'04.

I thought the catalytic was done for in my car, so I was researching it online....From what I understand, larger shops/dealerships make you replace everything, and it would be $1,200+Scarlet_Buckeye;1004629 wrote:My friend lives in Marblehead and she just paid $1,600 for all of that noted in the original post. Small shops would cut and weld in a new catalytic converter and not make you replace the whole system.
My issue ended up being an exhaust leak that my mechanic fixed for less than $50.
I'm guessing the price is a bit high, but more than likely a lot of unneccessary repairs/replacements were done. -

daveIsn't that on Outback?
If it was full exhaust that's pretty steep but not too crazy. I would say $1000-$1200 wouldn't be too shocking. -
