Coupons and dates

DeyDurkie5Nothing is wrong with it. just seems like a simple question. Don't use one until both of you are comfortable enough in the relationship to use them. end of story.

Right, but everyone has different interpretations of what that is. I'm curious to see what everyone's interpretation of that is. That's all.DeyDurkie5;976691 wrote:Nothing is wrong with it. just seems like a simple question. Don't use one until both of you are comfortable enough in the relationship to use them. end of story. -
TimberYou will know when the time is right. After you both realize the other person is not loaded with cash, it will make sense to save money while dating, so that you can have more dates to enjoy each others company.
First date... only if you want to enjoy yourself later that night -
Glory Dayswhat if you win free tickets to an event? or use a credit card with a cash back bonus? or a frequent buyers card where you buy 5 lap dances and the 6th is free?
-
Scarlet_BuckeyeAnd why is everyone saying it a major "no-no" on the first date. Just curious to see what all the social reasoning-s are.

yeah i dont get it either. if you would use them on the next date, might as well use them on the first. its like "hey, i waited till the second date to tell her that i wear women's underwear because its more comfortable, so its ok."Scarlet_Buckeye;976715 wrote:And why is everyone saying it a major "no-no" on the first date. I think a gift card/gift certificate is ok. Free tickets are good too.Glory Days;976713 wrote:what if you win free tickets to an event? or use a credit card with a cash back bonus? or a frequent buyers card where you buy 5 lap dances and the 6th is free?
I wouldn't because I don't want her to think (or find out) I'm cheap.Scarlet_Buckeye;976715 wrote:And why is everyone saying it a major "no-no" on the first date. Just curious to see what all the social reasoning-s are. -

aslong as its not an every date thing, why would she?FatHobbit;976719 wrote: I wouldn't because I don't want her to think (or find out) I'm cheap. -
thavoiceI guess the impression it gives is that the person is cheap, and/or who doesnt have even enough money to even pay for a dinner.
I dont know....I guess that is the thinking. Possibly the woman will think that if pinches pennies like this on a first date then he must really be a miser.
That is just my guess. -

A few dates in if it is something different, like the coupons that the Japanese steak houses have. The food is good, but it's not really "high class" so getting a discount isn't really being "cheap" it's just doing something different at a better price.Scarlet_Buckeye;976687 wrote:Let's say $5 off a $35 meal.
Or how about "buy one ticket, get one free."
Or... 15% off?
Just curious where everyone's "lines" are.
I'd say a committed relationship for something like an Olive Garden coupon. -
se-alumTypically, if I receive a coupon for free or discounted goods, I will go downtown and give it to someone less fortunate. My wife and I are very fortunate to be wealthy, and I believe helping others is the most important action one can perform.
Boom!! Con_alma'd!! -

You don't want to appear cheap nor do you want the reason to touch "Oh, so you only took me here or asked me out because you had a coupon?" Is it really worth saving like $10 to take a girl out to a nice dinner? How many actual dates do you go on?Scarlet_Buckeye;976715 wrote:And why is everyone saying it a major "no-no" on the first date. Just curious to see what all the social reasoning-s are. -

I Wear PantsDefine "coupon". Like, I'd use a promo code or a groupon deal certainly. Any lady that would have a problem with that is a dumb bitch.
But usually if I would use such a deal or coupon I'd end up buying something else. IE: Say you had a free movie ticket and you use it on the date. You better make sure you buy her a drink or popcorn or something if she wants it then. -

why would you take her out to a nice dinner? even for someone like you, you set the bar too high from the start, your screwed.sleeper;976754 wrote:You don't want to appear cheap nor do you want the reason to touch "Oh, so you only took me here or asked me out because you had a coupon?" Yeah, so you clearly don't get too many girls. Enjoy!Glory Days;976761 wrote:why would you take her out to a nice dinner? even for someone like you, you set the bar too high from the start, your screwed. -
I Wear PantsThe solution to that is obviously asking the girl where she'd like to go. That way if you find some deals with your phone you appear smart, not cheap.
-
thePITmanYes. I have, and I will continue to do so. My girlfriend is very frugal and tight with money, like me, so we both pick places for which we have coupons.

Because there is big difference between getting the second and third date. I would guess alot more people stop seeing each other after the first date compared to after the second. For most guys if you can get a second date you are "in the game."Scarlet_Buckeye;976715 wrote:And why is everyone saying it a major "no-no" on the first date. You don't want her to think that she is not worth whatever you are doing on the first date. -

its the internet, you obviously pull in more pussy than anyone here. however, the difference in the pussy i get is that it doesnt include herpes, enjoy.sleeper;976766 wrote:Yeah, so you clearly don't get too many girls. Enjoy! -

Yeah pretty much what I was going to say haha.justincredible;976619 wrote:I wouldn't attach a specific number to it. I would start using coupons as soon as I was comfortable enough around them to fart. -
SykotykIt's a catch-22: let the girl think you're a cheap bastard OR let her think that your wallet is endless.

dwccrewI just get the meal for free like a boss. Seriously, at the homeless shelter you don't pay for meals. She won't return my calls for a second date.

bwcomet89On a first date I(we) typically want to impress the girl, so keeping the coupons at home is a good idea to keep her from thinking I'm cheap or frugal. The second date is usually more casual so for me coupons, gift cards, certificates are a go. If the girl tries to pay for the dinner on a first date, I always just tell her "You can get the next time." Boom. Second date. Works every time.
Either way coupons on a 1st date makes you look less attractive to a woman. Probably because women love money and using coupons shows you don't have much.
