You are both right my friend, because the word itself is Hebrew, there is no "official" correct English spelling ...lhslep134 wrote: WSB, you spell it Chanukah? I've always spelled it Hannukah haha.

I was thinking of making a thread about Jews on here, but this thread suffices. So that's two, me and ohiobucks1, and I assume WSB is for starting this thread...anyone else? -

Me. An yarmulke is Yiddish. It's a Kepah in Hebrew.lhslep134 wrote:

There is a standardized transliteration alphabet, btw, but since we are Jewish, we are not going to let anyone us tell us what to do. Unless it's our moms. -

Ummm....maybe on Christmas we can have a Christian thread? Its Hanukkah, why do you care that they're celebrating their religion?ccrunner609 wrote: maybe I will start a methodist thread. -
se-alumI would've never in a million years known how to spell yarmulke if I hadn't just seen it here.

Because it's CC. All he does is interlope on threads, and post on politics. He adds nothing. You shouldn't even have responded to his post.Mooney44Cards wrote:

Upper90I recalled how to correctly spell yarmulke from my college days (I had a Jewish roommate my freshman year, which I think was the first time at Capital U. that a Jewish dude and a Muslim dude got the same room assignment, at least that's what our RA told us, but he was sketchy.), and to this day, that guy emails me a little message at the start of the holiday with the Adam Sandler song.
That song is brilliant. haha. -

WebsurfinbirdHere is the correct spelling in Hebrew
I use Ch when spelling it in English to emphasize the sound the first letter makes. It is not a soft H. -
