Welp... so much for YouTube

  • Scarlet_Buckeye
Our company decided to block YouTube. For some reason, we can go to YouTube and search, but we cannot watch any of the videos [or at least I haven't been able to on the ones I've clicked].

Now... before everyone starts bitching "You shouldn't be on YouTube at work" etc., I'm not. My reasons for going to YouTube at work are typically:
    • during lunch
    • "water cooler talk"
    • listening to music while I'm working on a project or something similar
    • etc.
FML if they ever block OhioChatter. Not quite sure what I would do...

Between your time spent on Youtube and Ohio Chatter while at work, you should be fired. I'll let your boss know since I am his boss.

pretty sure this is why it's blocked at work:

I hate youtube, and rarely will watch videos online.

    Hope this helps.

Don't hate because I can work faster than you and multi-task / accomplish more ;-)

Also, they block OC where I work, but that's what smart phones are for.

While employers are completely within their rights to do so, in most cases this approach is treating symptoms as opposed to attempting to cure the disease. If employees aren't getting the job done, that's the problem, not what they are doing instead. Fire them and get better employees. If the job is getting done, get over the idea that checking a video or two or looking at a Facebook page is any different than the old school coffee break.

I look at porn at work.

    Hope this helps.

Just in case that is the next to go, is there an app or certain mobile web browser you use? I can't go without my Chatter :)

    Hear, hear.

And perhaps I should have stated this in my original post, but I completely agree that employers do have the right to block whatever content they choose to.

I personally just use Firefox for Android or the default browser.

I know some use TapTalk though.

I'm concerned about you, Scarlet. First toll jumping, now this internet addiction. You're going off the rails on a crazy train.
