Voting Early

  Ever since the last presidential election and the long lines, I have voted early. Early voting has been open since October 4th and it's really the way to go. The early voting location is open long hours Monday through Friday and even on weekends (don't have to squeeze it in before or after work). Just walk right in and rows of machines available. Just get it out of the way. Will never vote on the regular Tuesday "voting day" again.

  I'd argue that the easier we make voting, the less informed the voters as a group. Those who bother to go to the polling location on election day are far more likely to know what they're voting for.

  I can understand where he's coming from. I vote on local levys and things, but when it comes to presidential elections I don't.
  
  The people's vote for president doesn't matter, and when people complain about the problems in our country it's usually not anything the president has 100% control of anyway. President is just a face, and unfortunately a bad one (Obama).

  So not voting = can't complain about shit? I spend my time influencing others rather than driving down to the polling station and casting a vote for someone/something I don't care about.

  Not voting means you don't care enough about an issue to make your opinion official.
  
  Of course you can still complain about shit but most people don't have a reason for not voting other than they're too lazy to do so.

  It doesn't, but the status quo being bad doesn't eliminate the possibility that we can take steps to make it worse.

  Maybe since our polls arent as busy, but I enjoy going to the polls and voting. It is kind of funny but the last 3-4 times I have voted I have ran into the same person I hadnt seen since the last time there was an election. Our town put all the precints in the same building a number of years ago and I look forward to going each year.

  One vote doesn't matter. I almost always vote to lower taxes, lower regulation, increase liberties, and end entitlements. These issues never win, so why bother? I will continue to strengthen my own personal situation and that of my immediate family for the impending doom this country faces.

  One vote really doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. That is true.
  
  But I have a stupid saying about that that I describe as thinking about the cumulative version of one.
  
  What I mean by that is when you have enough people believing that their one vote doesnt matter then that "one vote" turns into thousands, and millions of 'one votes'.
  
  It is like littering. Throwing one McDonals bag out the window really isnt a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if enough people think that same way and think that their "one" bag of trash isnt that big of a deal then we have a trash problem across the country.
  
  If it truly was just your one vote, or just one bag of McDonalds trash then yeah, I would say it really isnt that big of a deal, but for each person who thinks that there are thousands more who think the same way and THAT is the issue.
  
  That is why people make a big deal out of one vote and say that your vote matters because if enough people dont believe their vote matters then we get so little turnout

  Actually, jerkwad, that is my own thoughts about voting.
  
  In about 20 years I have only missesd one vote. I do my best to learn about the issues and candidates and then make the most educated decision possible. I dont get into political conversations with people usually because no one is going to change another person's mind. Religon and politics are the two most polarizing issues known to mankind from the beginning of time.

  I actually do vote. I just think its funny how people get upset at people who chose not to. If you don't want to vote, you probably shouldn't be voting anyway.

  after the obama election i really questioned why i should vote. this is why:
  
  after they announced the winner some channel was interviewing a black woman who said "obama is gonna take care of me. i ain't gotta pay my car note or mortgage no more." i remember thinking, holy shit, this retard's vote counted the same as mine. and i haven't voted since. i might in this next election/primary but i haven't found any candidate that i really am drawn to yet.
