From the "if I was designing it" department, when looking for one, remember that lots of time there will be wind, so if you find one that lets you shoot the snow kind of sideways and not just 10-20 degrees away from straight up, it would help.

You just basically have to throw it with the wind, and I also would save $ for a good pair of books with some traction, as you don't want to be slipping around in tennis shoes out there. I have a relatively small, hilly area of about 22x 90 feet, I am sure there are huddlers clearing alot more than that. I have a Sears that my wife got "us" for Christmas about 3 years ago, it was a leftover model with electronic start, which comes in handy. Also, neighbors think I am crazy for cranky the thing up once or twice a year when it's hot outside, but I don't like the thing to sit for 10 months inactive. Actually, if I never had to use it again because we had such mild winters, I'd be ok with that.

Sounds like you might need it quite often in Ohio this year. :)

My driveway is ~ 180' long and until last winter I shoveled it. It would take me about 45 minutes - hour. Last winter I got a Troy built self propelled 26" snow blower and it is freaking awesome. I can do my whole driveway in 10 minutes and not even break a sweat.

I am not an expert by any means, but I think the big difference in prices are whether one is a single stage, or a double stage snow blower.

My brother gave me his snow blower on his way to Florida (smart one in the family) and it is a small craftsman single stage that works well for my needs. Our driveway has a pretty decent slope to it and this size seems to be about right. It does struggle with heavy wet snows, which is where the double stage would be a better fit. I do the driveway across the street wher an elderly couple lives and another neighbor pretty quickly. My other neighbor has a pretty large one that he finds to be a pain in the arse unless it is a really big snow.

    Hope this helps :)

This is what I've got. 24" with 5 speeds forward, 2 reverse. Throws it great, and I drift shut in big storms.

Go to lowes.com/moving and request a 10% off coupon. I'm not sure if it will work with a big ticket item, but worth a shot.

    I've never seen one.

    Hope this helps
