Zoo fans?

  • Fab1b
Any fans of zoos? Jacksonville has a pretty good zoo. Went this past Friday with the lady and really enjoyed it. Gonna get us a memebership and go more often. I found it quite relaxing and quiet especially during a weekday. Any zoo fans? I visit the Lights Before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo often when I visit during that time of year too.

The only Zoo I'm a fan of is the Chatter.

Yeah, I enjoy them. Been to the Toledo zoo often over the years, including the lights and such.

Went to the San Diego Zoo a few years ago and it was pretty cool as well.

Through the eyes of a 6 year olds father: IMHO Toledo is the best in Ohio, easy walk from exhibit to exhibit, good amount of animals, nice aquarium. Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati are all nice, but are either spread way too far out or lack animals per exhibit. Akron is great for a 2 to 8 year old, small, short and easy to do in a few hours. Hope this helps.</SPAN>

Love the Toledo Zoo and I'm lucky to live about 45 minutes from there. The lights are awesome and its always a great date spot in the wintertime.

Have a membership to the Cincinnati Zoo. Used to go to the Toledo Zoo all the time when I went to UT. The Toledo Zoo doesn't compare to Cincy.

Columbus Zoo recently overtook the San Diego zoo as #1 in the US.

I went to the Columbus Zoo over the summer and it was pretty nice. I liked it much better than the Toledo and Cleveland zoo, which are both solid as well.

I thought the Manatee exhibit at Columbus was excellent.

That wasn't a manatee, that was Holly Mangold.

My favorite zoo is Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines IA. Pretty much exclusively because of their little event called Zoo Brew. Beer. Music. Beer. Hop some fences. Beer. Also liked Fort Worth and San Diego.

My wife loves zoos. We went to the Bronx Zoo when in NYC and will be going to the London Zoo this coming summer.

I've been a member of the Columbus Zoo for about 10 years. I love taking my girls there as both want to work with animals when they grow up. When I was stationed at Pendleton, my wife and I went to the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Wild Animal Park a few times. Always loved it there. The animals smelled better than most of the people in downtown Oceanside.

At the Columbus Zoo, I love the Okapi and the Polar Bears. Okapis are quite rare in US zoos as they are so hard to catch in the wild. Just going into the Congo in search of can end badly because the area is so war torn. The Polar Bears are simply bad ass.

Honestly the Toledo Zoo is better than the Columbus Zoo. If Toledo were a better known city nationwide, it would be the #1 zoo in the country.

Not a zoo fan period. I was about 9 yrs old and went to the SD zoo in which I saw a Jaguar in a small cage barely long enough for him to lay down. Ruined all zoos for me from then on.

Was just at the Singapore Zoo which was pretty nice. Also went on a night safari that they have at the zoo which was pretty amazing.

Columbus Zoo is awesome, though i'm personally boycotting due to issues with how myself and others were treated when i worked there. It is hard to believe it is so nice, considering i've never met a more inept group of employees and management in my entire life. Nepotism runs rampant there.

    Disgruntled ex-employee is disgruntled.

...I need to check out the Columbus zoo from what I'm reading here. I've been to the Central Park Zoo in NYC, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and San Diego and up till now I enjoyed the San Diego Zoo the most.

What dept were you in? The few depts that people I know who have worked or done internships in have great "reviews". Most people were actually working somewhat close with the animals though.

I used to live a block from the Toledo Zoo...still only went one time. It's an awesome zoo, though. I really want to check out the Christmas Lights. I've seen them in Columbus and would like to compare.

Went to the Cincinnati Zoo two summers ago and thought it was very nice as well.

Toledo zoo, when i was a kid, was like the only place we could ever find those Coca Cola slushes back in the day.

As a kid ya remember the oddest things...like how ya used to walk under the road in a tunnel to get to the zoo.

Cols Zoo is great although I spend most of my time in the reptile house.

I like the Columbus Zoo, but only seem to go there about once a decade. I was at the Toledo Zoo when I was really young, so I don't remember that all so well. As in the only thing I do remember is getting a deck of animal cards from the gift shop. I'm pretty sure the purpose of the trip wasn't just to get those cards, so I'm drawing a blank on most everything, I think.
