Daily disposable contacts

  • dave
Finally decided to go for these since the price has come way down.

If any of you have contact problems due to allergies, bad work/sleep schedules, etc I'd highly recommend it.

Just curious how many other contacts wearers have made the switch.

i am pretty much hooked on my Day and Nights...I wear them continuously for 2 months or so and then throw them out.

How much do they cost per day....pardon my nosiness?

I got Accuve Moist, which is middle of the line for Accuve. They just came out with a new one that is really expensive. The Accuve Moist come out to $1/day for a pair at Sam's Club which was the cheapest place I found. To get that price I had to get a 6 month supply, a year's supply would have saved me about $5. It's really not much more than my monthly lenses plus solution and my eyes feel much better especially early in the morning and late evenings.

I wear dailies since I wear them only a few dozen times a year.

I work at an optometrists office and dailies are not NEARLY as popular as they once were. The normal contacts have become much much more comfortable,so many made the switch over from dailies.

Thats what we recommend to most patients. Its literally requires next to no maintenance

Wait, tell me more about Day and Nights. You wear them all the time like, even sleeping? And they aren't uncomfortable or bad for the eye?

I'd be very interested in this.

Interesting, I've asked my doctor about these and she said absolutely no way. Said it was really bad for your eyes etc..

Dailys are still more expensive than monthlys so I stick with Monthly. I've been having eye issues lately though so I only wear contacts for exercise recently which sucks.

I have good eyes which don't require corrective lenses.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah, I sleep in them. I wake up...eyes are usually a little dry, so drop a little saline in my eyes. No maintenance at all

Seems like it would be awful for your eyes.

Doctors are split down the middle on that for the most part. I know our Dr says the day/night contacts are breathable enough and dont harm the eyes if you leave them on for extended periods of time. But some say what your Dr does

So what are the best options if money isn't much of a concern? My insurance will pay most all of the expense.
  • dlazz
    I'd do the day/night ones.

Not saying it will happen to you, but the lack of oxygen to your eyes can lead to enlarged blood vessels or corneas and long term eye problems. It wouldn't affect your prescription in the short term.

I take it you don't have allergies?
