Terra Nova

  • Scarlet_Buckeye
Did anyone catch the premiere of Terra Nova last night? I recorded it and watched the 1st hour. It was a little slow for my liking, but I still think there's a lot of potential behind the show. It reminds me of a rip-off of Pandora meets Lost meets Jurassic Park. I thought the guy who plays the father is a terrible actor. Also, not sure if it's just the character or what, but the son rubbed me the wrong way too. I'll definitely finish watching the 2nd hour, and I'll probably continue to tune in (or at least record) next week's episode as well.

    Any other "buyers" out there?

How much space do you have on your DVR?

I didn't record it last night but I saw on the guide that it's going to be on again Saturday. So I will grab it then.

I'm with gblock though. I've had way too many shows that I was into get canceled after a season or two.

    I've never heard of it.

    Hope this helps.

I enjoyed it, hoping it sticks around.

The best example of this for me was Flash Forward. That show was awesome!

Never watched it. I mean a lot of the shows I liked that were canceled weren't award winning shows but I watched them every week and then all of the sudden they are gone.

Not bad, and good enough for my wife and I to continue to watch it to see how it progresses. I'll always give Steven Spielberg the benefit of the doubt. ;)

I watched it and thought it was pretty good. In addition to your Lost Meets Jurassic Park reference I would throw in Avatar as well. Certainly does not hurt that the person who looks to be the primary foil is the same guy from Avatar.

The previews made me think Lost meets Turok. Turok was fun, but Lost was horrible, so I didn't watch.

Whoops. That's what I meant. I just had the name wrong. I said "Pandora" (the place they go to); forgetting that the actual name of the movie was Avatar. My mistake.

The best show ever to not get picked up again was Life on Mars.

Same lead actor. Maybe if Gretchen Moll landed a spot on this show it would be better.

I also thought Detroit: 187 got cut prematurely. I guess the networks don't like shows on ABC co-starring Michael Imperioli.

I think LOST ruined it for shows like Flash Forward. People that were into LOST (like myself) couldn't get into another show with so many twists, turns and mysteries.

    Blasphemy!!!

I enjoyed the premiere, but all the talk on tvbythenumbers.com was not good as far as the amount of viewers and liklihood that it will get picked up for more seasons...

My wife and I will continue to watch...

9,220,000 viewers and you don't think that's good? Not great for a premier, but it's competing in a tough time slot. I think it will be fine and enjoyed it. Will keep watching as long as it's on...I'm not a huge fan of the sitcoms it competes against.

I also liked it a lot and hope it gets picked up for more seasons. They obviously put a lot of resources into it. The special effects aren't as good as Jurassic Park, but they are probably the best I've seen in a TV show.

I think that's great, but they have this whole numbers calculation thing they do and predict what shows get canceled, etc...I think the problem is that it was nearly in last place in the time slot for the night/times it was on compared to the other big networks....It only beat out 'The Sing Off' on NBC, and Terra Nova has a monster budget and tons of advertising dollars spent.

I loved the show and hope it goes on for a few seasons, personally.

I'm about 45 minutes in and I think it's alright but I'm not thrilled about it so far.

I keep seeing this thread and think it says Terry Nova. My bad.
