Post-Concussion Syndrome
-
End of LineI've been dealing with it for about 7 months now and it fucking sucks. My accident happened at work (whole different story there) and the symptoms I've been dealing with will just not go away.
Here are the symptoms I've been dealing with:
-Severe headaches
-Short term memory loss
-Light sensitivity
-"Fogginess"
-Fatigue
-Anxiety and irritability along with my personality changing
-Blurred vision at times
-Balance issues
My doctor has not let me go out very much b/c I can blackout at anytime and I have about 3 times over the past 4 months.
If you want to know the story of how it happened and the legal issues I'm dealing with against FedEx Ground, I'll let you know.
I just want this to go away. Has anyone else experienced PCS before, and if so how did you deal with it? -
I Wear PantsYou money grubbing bastard! How dare you sue a corporation (I assume you've filed some sort of suit to get the medical benefits you were probably due)!

End of LineWell, the night of my accident my manger did not fill out a accident report yet being about 8 feet away from me when the accident happened. The next day the sort manager refused to fill one out again. I worked for about 3 days after my accident but I was pretty much useless b/c my body would shut down whenever my heart rate would go up. I had called off work for 3 weeks telling them why and they never called back. Then one day I called them to let them know I had a doctors appointment to go to b/c of my condition. Within 5 minutes they called me back and told me I need to come in and fill out Workers comp paper work and go to urgent care to figure out whats wrong with me. I do all this on a Friday April 8th (accident was on March 7th) and I fill out the paper work and go to urgent care. I get to urgent care and they tell me I need to go to the ER asap b/c of my symptoms. I go to Doctors West on West Broad and I spend 9 fucking hours in the ER and it sucked. I was diagnosed with PCS that night.
For the next few weeks I've been waiting on hearing if I'm going to receive workers comp. FedEx denied it due to "lack of information" and I had a Comp hearing on June 15th. B/c of this I go can get the BEST Comp Lawyer in the State of Ohio. His name is Phil Fulton here's his site (http://www.ohiocompensationlawyer.com/) and FedEx hired their lawyer as soon as the found this out. FedEx then decided to continue the hearing b/c they wanted me to go see a "doctor for hire" and this guy was an absolute piece of shit to me and said there's nothing wrong with me. Yet, the doctor who I've been seeing for the past 7 months says there's something really wrong with me. My hearing had been continued for another month. On July 20th I had my hearing.
At my hearing, I brought my Dad along with me b/c I'm not allowed to drive right now. The hearing was nearly 2 hours long and was very tense inside the room. At times I wanted to rip FedEx's lawyer's head off. I found out they did surveillance of me in April and it showed me in my drive way shooting a tennis ball with a hockey stick for 5 minutes. FedEx built their entire case around it and the judge said that what I was doing was fine b/c I explained to him that it was stress related b/c I hate being inside all day. Anyway, the judge ruled in my favor and I won. They had to pay me for all the work I had missed and then some (I can't go into detail about it) and they have to pay for all medical expenses.
At my next doctors appointment which was in August he put me off work for another month b/c of my symptoms and he submits for me to see a Neurologist. A couple weeks go by and they haven't called to let me know when that will be. I then get a letter in the mail from the BWC b/c I have a hearing to go to. It pretty much said that FedEx is going to try and appeal EVERYTHING and the fact they denied to let me see a neurologist for the 3rd time. I called my Lawyer and asked what is going on and he said, "I'm puzzled right now on what they're doing b/c you won". I had my most recent doctors appointment last week and I'm off for another week and he told me what FedEx is appealing. He said the reason they're appealing this b/c they're scared of what is wrong with me and all they care about is money. Along with this is that FedEx is 2 weeks behind on my WC checks. My next hearing is this Friday and I'm going to let them have it. Fuck FedEx. -
Tiger2003Damn man I am sorry to hear this. I hope everything works out for you. Keep us posted if you can.
-
End of LineWill do.
I'll let you guys know how my hearing goes on Friday. -
Tobias FünkeBut the corporations are the job generators and all of them treat their employees as decent human beings would!
/sarcasm.
That sucks. I hope you get the bastards. -
killer_ewokWow. Hope everything turns out in your favor. Also hope that your symptoms subside soon.
FedEx is on some bullshit. -

Raw Dawgin' itMy co worker was telling me he has symptoms after a car accident. He had the same problems for about 4 weeks and said he just felt like he was always in a fog and that once he healed it seemed like everything was better over night.
Good luck with everything, it sounds wicked frustrating. -
GOONx19I broke my cheekbone playing backyard football last October and had PCS until February. I had a concussion and spent the night in the hospital and don't remember anything from about a 48 hour period. The black eye I got lasted 6 weeks and then would still be there when I woke up in the morning until about 11:00 each day until Christmas. I had never had a headache until then but ended up with migraines every couple days for the whole five months, and I'd have days where I couldn't get out of bed because of my sensitivity to light. It sucks what you're going through with FedEx, though.
Be careful about your head because it's really easy to re-injure yourself. I've had one more concussion since then and ended up in the ER all night on Christmas Eve because of it, and every time I get bumped I end up with a bruised face again. I actually have a black eye right now from a pickup basketball game last Wednesday and I don't even remember getting bumped. This has gotten too long, though, so good luck with the case. -

dlazzI am careful at work and don't get injured.
Hope this helps. -
thavoiceI imagine fed ex can be as tough as UPS in terms of their sort system. I worked the night sort system at UPS and man it could be very, very tough.
I had a few concussions playing football back in the day. The worst was a blind side hit when I was back in the pocket looking to throw downfield. I was knocked out for a bit and remember seeing the players huddled around me as I was on the ground. I was back the next series but afterwards when my coach was going over some things in the second half I had no recollection of it!
Goodluck...keep us posted. -
HereticSounds like rough stuff. Makes me feel lucky. I've taken some hard shots to the head, but no amount of blunt force trauma can penetrate the layer of smoke I have surrounding my brain.
Hope your shit fades soon, as that sounds like pure shit. -
End of LineThanks.
I have no memory of what happened after I got hit in the head. All I remember was being in the belly of a trailer loading and a flap came unhinged (they weigh about 30-35lbs) and it hit struck me on the back of my head and my memory goes blank after that. What I do remember is that I stood up and looked around trying to figure out wear I was. My manager was talking to me and he kept repeating my name but I never answered him b/c I couldn't really talk it seemed like. I got out of the trailer and I was walking towards the bathroom area and when I got there I freaked out b/c I didn't know what I was doing and I didn't know where I was.
Also, whenever somebody asks me how I'm feeling it's really hard to explain to them unless they've suffered a concussion. My friends are the worst when it comes to this. -
tcarrier32that blows man. i worked for fed ex 2 years ago, I got hit in the chest by a package coming down the belt and fell backwards down into the trailer. they were really shady after that, luckily i found other employment. hope all goes well.

thavoiceI know at UPS they have the teamsters union. fedex is non union correct? Wonder if this happened at UPS if the union would be representing you and getting things resolved a little quicker.
I know when I worked there they were ALWAYS on the lookout to file suits against the company. -
End of LineThanks man. I've seen someone break their nose slipping in the belly and there was fucking blood everywhere one of the worst things I've ever seen. The only time they really cared about someone happened a couple of months ago where someone who works in the Blue had their hand caught underneath the conveyor belt.
Yeah, there is no union at FedEx. -

I can vouch for this. It's a very strange feeling.The_Crosby_Show;912941 wrote: Also, whenever somebody asks me how I'm feeling it's really hard to explain to them unless they've suffered a concussion. -
thavoiceWhat was caught under the conveyor belt? A tie? I know at UPS we wore an altered tie. In the back we would cut it, and use velcro so if it did get caught it wouldnt strangle ya.

GoPensGood luck man, wish you the best. When I was first reading your post I thought it had something to do with Sid Crosby.

End of LineI have my 2nd hearing tomorrow @ 9am
The reason for the hearing is b/c FedEx is refusing to pay a hospital bill from back in April when they wanted to know what was wrong with me. Also, the other reason is b/c of FedEx denied my doctor's request to let me see a Neurologist again. I'm pretty confident that this will go in my favor.
