I Wear Pants, I disagree. For every person out there who has a conservative reaction, there is at least one liberal person doing something to cause that conservative to freak out.

We just don't give a shit if kids know that their teachers are fucking people. Because it's god damned normal.

No, the US is one of the most conservative cultures in the world as far as sex goes. We're so damned afraid of it.

She was fired because it was videotaped - with her consent and knowledge - and that tape ended-up being distributed. People get fired or dinged for jobs because of photos and comments on facebook all the time. Use a little common sense - if something should/needs to remain private, make sure it stays that way. Her lack of discretion is what got her fired, not because she had sex.
most of those photos/comments on facebook are uploaded by the user and involved illegal/racist/hateful things. and when we do hear about people being fired for those things, its teenagers from mcdonalds, not adults.

this is basically the equivalent of someone breaking into her home and then putting the movies online.

No it's not. She willing participated in these videos which means she opened herself to the risk of a stalker or crazy boyfriend burning her - and now she's suffering the consequences of those poor decisions. This is ALL of her own making. She has no one to blame but herself. I have no sympathy.

yes it is. if someone broke into her house and took the tapes. its her fault for not securing them in a safe or flat out destroying the films. she opened herself to the risk as soon as she filmed herself.

    see how that works?

Except those tapes aren't going to be sent to parents or find themselves on the internet, are they? There's no tape if she doesn't make one. No sympathy. Besides, no one broke into her house so she must bear responsibility. She has to deal with the consequences of her actions, intended or not. The situation is of her own making. It's really as simple as that. If you're going to engage in that activity, you better make damn sure you have complete and total control of the copies. If that means locking it in a safe or encrypted on a computer, then that sounds like plain old common sense.

And it doesn't matter. Teachers are held to a higher standard. That's a risk she willingly took when she made those tapes. It's really not that different from Weiner. I may not agree with it, but the standard is the standard and maybe they should have thought about what happens if that goes public before they made the decision to pose for the camera. I'm sorry if society isn't always fair to idiots.

You send a sexting or make a video, having it wind-up on the internet is a foreseeable consequence. Claiming no responsibility would never fly in court.
