Taking it a step further I'd say MMA because it mixes wrestling, boxing, etc.

    It's hard to argue that!

It is close though. Soccer just requires so much more in terms of time within the activity. It's 90 minutes...wrestling isn't. Now, MMA can go quite some time (especially if you were Helio Gracie or Waldemar Santana). Wrestling and MMA/boxing do rely more on strength -- especially upper body.

I wouldn't mind seeing some testing on what sport is most rigorous. That'd be interesting results to look at.

Not sure if you wrestled or not, but as a wrestler throughout my career I encountered many wrestlers who also played soccer, and not one of them ever said soccer was more demanding or tougher than wrestling. This includes a few soccer players who said this while playing d1 soccer in college. I have had D1 football players tell me the same thing as well. There is no comparison when it comes to sanctioned sports at the amateur level, except maybe swimming, but in swimming you also don't have a guy that is trying to beat the living piss out of you while swimming laps.

MMA now is a different story. That obviously takes the cake since it mixes all fighting styles into one, and the fights can last up to 25 minutes. That is just ridiculous.

As a wrestler I have to agree with what's said above. Except that I really respect the athleticism required to play soccer well (brother played D1). I think it's dumb to compare the athleticism required for different sports because they all have different goals and require different physical aptitudes. Soccer requires a ton of endurance as well as being able to sprint quickly even after having run long distances. Wrestling requires an entirely different type of endurance (hard to describe but anyone who's wrestled understands how shockingly tired you can become after just six minutes). I don't like comparing them because they're different things entirely.

I wrestled...but it doesn't count...it was only about 4-5 years and I was extremely young.

I am not arguing the fact that wrestling is or may be more demanding than soccer. I just said that it would be interesting to see how things compare over a series of tests. Just to see if there's a way to tell what is demanded out of each sport and to what extent.

We all have stories of friends who say one sport is harder than the other. No doubt about it that wrestling requires a lot out of an individual, especially if they are committed and it gets harder and harder as they advance in grade/level. Same thing goes for MMA. I just think sports are more alike in their "demands" than what each individual participant thinks.
