Laley23;893982 wrote:Im pretty sure he isnt. He is famous, but not near the TOP. They are always mentioning other "real-life" actors that the studios are talking to or want for roles Vince also wants. I never got the feeling he was an A-Lister, but more of a guy just outside that level. Not on a Cruise, Leo, Depp, Pitt, etc level. But more like his creation, Marky Mark. Gets big roles, an is very famous...but not an A-Lister.
I would list Mark Wahlberg as an A-lister, just not the top of the list like those you named. I think that is what Vince was in the show as well. An A-list actor that wasn't the top of the list.

Fair enough. He certainly was big...but quite honestly he seemed to have more money than he should have!

-Head On (2 mil)
-Queens Boulevard (60k)
-Aquaman (5 mil)
-Medellin (Bombed)
-Smoke Jumpers (Fired)

----Then he was broke (having made 3 indie films/non-blockbusters, one which was a major flop and 2 blockbusters. 1 a huge success and 1 he was fired----

-Gatsby (Huge success)
-Ferrari (Big movie)

It could be assumed that the last 2 movies have floated him until this finale. But its a bit far fetched imo, given how much he spends. He went broke shortly after the biggest opening weekend in film history.

I don't think he was fired from Smoke Jumpers, after the bumping of heads with the director, they just stopped production on the film. He was fired from the Aqua Man series.

I would imagine his money guy invested for him. PLUS don't forget about his large investment in the Tequila company, which I think earned him 15 million?

Speaking of Avion, did anyone else not know it was real? I was out this weekend in Charlotte and on the side of one of the buildings was a huge banner for Avion Tequila.

Entourage wrapped its eighth and final season on Sunday night, leaving many fans wondering about the future of the franchise. Creator Doug Ellin has confirmed that he will begin writing a script for a potential feature film, while executive producer Mark Wahlberg has stated that he “will fight to the end to get the movie made.”
Got this from an article about the final show, so looks like a movie is in the works. While an hour would have made it seem less rushed, I still like the way they ended it, with them appearing to all end up in NY, were hopefully the movie will take place.

Yes, but that wasnt until recently. I think he has the money now, Im saying throughout the seasons he shouldnt have had as much as he did.

Im dont doubt that guys might have floated him etc. But if that was the case, youd think he would be wise. AKA, stop free spending if you ARE being floated, if that makes sense.

Dont get me wrong, I love the show. But when you actually think about it, he wasnt THAT rich (in A-List comparisons) and I dont think he is as big as a star as some think.

Also, this is awesome news. I wouldnt mind if they made a 2 part movie.

I agree on him not being A list. I think though that he was an idiot with money and actually did spend when he was being floated.

Vince has stated in seasons past that he didn't care about money. Which is why he spent it freely.

I'm starting back at the beginning now and going to watch the series from beginning to end. I am actually going through withdrawals of the first few seasons, I've watched the first two at least 20-30 times. The first I heard a couple years ago was they were doing 2 movies like S&TC.

Was this show really that popular where a movie makes sense? I personally would love it, but I never had the feeling it was as popular as some other HBO hits that never had movies made.

thats great news...id be happy with 2...im not sure about how popular entourage really was...i feel like my age (25) really dig the show - we used to have huge groups watch in college

Maybe not. But its a simple plot line driven by dialogue and such. Not a lot to make. No sets required, no action required (unless Vince is in a movie) etc. So even if it isnt that popular, a movie will bring in the $$$.

If I'm not mistaken it was HBO's longest running show other than Curb.

Sopranos was 7 seasons (6 seasons, but 6th was split into 2).

In the middle of the night, the villagers woke to the sound of blood-curdling shrieks coming from the pasture. As they carefully approached, they saw the hunter on the ground, groaning in pain. There was no sign of the lion.

"What happened, Jonesie? Where is the lion?" asked the chief.

"Forget the damn lion!" he howled. "Which one of you idiots let the bull loose?"

haha that was a very funny story indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
