The Fantasy Football Playoff thread

Okay, so playoffs start this week...who's all in it?

I just missed getting a first round BYE, the 1 and 2 seeds get byes, 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. I finished 3rd.

I have some interesting matchups this week and I just wanna make sure I make the right moves so I don't lose out on 350 dollars.

So tell me who my starters should be. These are my normal starters, and then I will put my normal bench under them:

    QB Donovan McNabb (@ NYG)
    RB Cedric Benson (@ minn)
    RB Knowshon Moreno (@ indy)
    WR Marques Colston (@ ATL)
    WR Larry Fitzgerald (@ SF)
    Flex Sydney Rice (Cin)

    Bench:
    QB Jason Campbell (@ Oak)
    RB Chris Brown (@ Sea)
    RB Steve SLaton (@Sea)
    RB Justin Forsett (Hou)
    WR Kenny Britt (STL)
    TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Cin)

    So who should I start?
  • BigAppleBuckeye
S&L, I would keep your starting lineup as-is, no need for a change.

I backed into the playoffs in my 16-team high stakes lead. I would have been the #2 seed if Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice did ANYTHING last week, but they both shit the bed.
  • Fab1b
I enter at 7-6 but the 2nd highest scoring team in league. Crazy year of my 6 losses, 5 of those weeks I would have beaten everyone else in the league except for the team I was playing that week. I like my chances I am just hoping DeSean Jackson is a go this week!

How does everyone's playoff system work? Ours is a 12-team league, top four teams make the playoffs and they're weeks 15 and 16 of the season. I feel good about my chances, I'm 10-3, top of my league, 2nd most points. Clinched a playoff spot last week, will clinch #1 seed with a win this week.
  • fortfan
I am in as #4 seed. 3 teams have outscored me in total points, yet are behind me in the standings, so I must be a little bit lucky.
  • Fab1b
My league is a 10 team league. Two five team divisions. Top 3 in each division to the playoffs with 1 and 2 seed getting first rd bye.

That's like our league, we have one week left. I clinched a playoff spot with a 9-4 record and in 2nd; there is one spot open (4th) with 4 teams battling for it this weekend. The ironic thing is those 4 teams are playing each other. Should be exciting. I should have killed it, but my number 2 and 3 picks in the draft (Westbrook and S. Smith) have done nothing for me all season.

    My team:

    QB:
    D.McNabb
    J.Cutler

    RB:
    M.Jones-Drew
    S.Slaton
    J.Stewart
    C.Buckhalter

    WR:
    A.Johnson
    P.Harvin
    S.Smith
    S.Moss
    S.Breaston
    T.Ginn

    K:
    M.Crosby

    D:
    Phili
    Baltimore

We have an interesting format: 16-team league, 2 divisions, top 4 teams from each division make the playoffs.

    #1 plays #4, #2 plays #3 in each division.

The higher seed gets a "home field advantage" of 10 points + 5 points for every additional win that they have compared to their opponent (so if they have two more wins, they get a 20 point lead).

I was the #1 seed for about 75% of the season, and got ice cold down the stretch. I now am down 20-0 already, going up against Tom Brady, Wes Welker and a high-powered team! ughhh

That's dumb. Home field advantage? Boo.

I actually love it, adds an element to the playoffs that in some-way immitate the NFL. Home teams have a big advantage in the playoffs in the NFL, so we tried to simulate that. That is the one rule that is universally loved by all 16 owners in my league.

Bear in mind that we have a higher scoring system than most leagues, so a "good" score in our league is 200 points, with great scores ranging in the 230-275 range. So 20 points, while significant, isn't THAT significant.

I barely missed out on getting a buy week. I have listed my starters in caps, any changes you would make? I am starting the 3 Steelers due to who they play this week. Schaub has been a horse for me, but he got dinged up last week, and I know Ben loves to torch the Browns, also it sounds as if Hines will be out this week giving a boost to Mike Wallace. PLEASE let me know what you think, I have my father-in-law in this first round and really want Christmas bragging rights!

    QB
    BIG BEN
    matt schaub

    RB

    WR

    REGGIE WAYNE
    MIKE WALLACE

My playoffs start next week and I'm tied for the number one seed. I do have the tiebreaker cause of my points scored. I figured I'm in the playoffs win or lose. Unless I score 0 points.

That makes sense, then. I'm used to my league's scoring where most people are around 90-120 points per week. A twenty-point advantage right off the bat would basically be a free pass to the next round.

I am in the winners bracket in 4 of my 6 on ESPN

I am in the standard format on ESPN where they tally the score for 2 weeks in each round.

I have a 11-1-1 team, 10-3, 9-4 and a 7-5-1 that all made it and have chances of winning.
  • jpake1
I'm in the playoffs in all 5 of my leagues. I have a first round bye in all of them except 1. Hopefully I bring home the money.
  • hasbeen
One of my leagues starts playoffs this week. It's a 6 team playoff so top 2 teams get a bye. I'm the 4th or 5th seed. That league is looking bad for me. High powered team first week.

My other league only sends 4 to the playoffs and I'm tied for like 5th with million other teams. It'll depend on if I win and if I score a ton of points.

My other league will have 8 teams(14 team league) and no byes. I'm guarenteed playoffs, but this week will decide if I win my division or not. I was 9-1 but lost 3 straight thanks to Mike Singletary hating on Frank Gore owners and Baltimore's ineptitude last week.

Steve Slaton has been placed on the IR so he is done for the year.

    awesome.

So I'm dropping Slaton, who should I pick up, Cadillac Williams or McGahee?

8 team league, Im top seed at 11-2, we have a home field advantage that lets us name 1 extra player in the QB/RB/WR group and one extra in the TE/K/DST group. Once the game is played if one of your two HFA players outscores one of your starters, you can sub them in (but only one of the two...not both).

    My Team:

    QB - Warner, Favre
RB -Addai, Tomlinson, R. Williams, D. Williams
WR - Colston, Boldin, Hester, Crabtree
    TE - Dal. Clark, Keller
K - Akers, Miami kicker who I never play
    D/ST - Bears, Ravens

We start: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, D/ST **or** QB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, D/ST

I have 1st round Bye and HFA in round 2, game 3 is the championship and no one gets HFA in that.
I'm the defending champ and was the runner up the year before that.

Our playoffs are weeks 15 & 16. 10 Team league w/ 5 team Divisions. Division winners are automatic then 2 more playoff spots determined by record, if tie record points scored breaks the tie. I'm 7-6 with by far the most points scored. Same situation as Fab1 every time I've lost I would have beat everyone else. Just shit luck this season.
  • BigAppleBuckeye
I need to pick three out of these mediocre receivers, which three would you pick?

*Kenny Britt vs. St. Louis (will Justin Gage be back?)
*TJ Houshmanzedah at Houston (he has been horrible, but is he due?)
*Roy Williams vs. San Diego (he stinks, but has 3 TDs the past two games)
*Mario Manningham (coming off a bad game, but I espect the Giants to throw a lot against Philly)

I also have these scrubs: Michael Jenkins, Josh Cribbs, Sam Aiken

It's my 16-team league, my strengths are my RBs (Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice), but my receivers have killed me all year ...
  • King Curtis
    Housh, Williams and Manningham
  • rocketalum
Out of Thomas Jones(playing a bad TB and should get lots of carries with Sanchez hurting), Jamaal Charles (plays the terrible Bills run D) and Stephen Jackson (banged up but still a solid performer each week) which two would you choose? Also have De'Angelo Williams but not sure the ankle is going to be ok so I'm assuming he's on the pine.
  • mtrulz
My team's 12-1, only losing once by a score of 80.24-80.14! That pissed me off so much! :@
