Headed to Cleveland

  • Websurfinbird
Leaving for Cleveland tomorrow to meet up with BigAppleBuckeye who is there on business. Just staying for the night before heading down to Columbus for the weekend. Will be checking out Lola and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Anything in particular I should look out for (it's my first visit to the city)? I'm hoping the weather won't be rainy and gross as expected, but glad the forecast isn't calling for the heat wave like the one last weekend.

Get the ribeye with the bone marrow butter... I would take a trip to Ohio City to hit up the westside maket and tour the Great Lakes Brewery.

Since you are getting a lot of input I would also check out the http://www.cmnh.org/site/Index.aspx Cleveland museum of Natural History and the botanical gardens (they are next to each other) Good thing to do if it is raining as well.

I have always enjoyed spending time in The Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Public Square.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately I won't have much time in the city to get to do everything, but I'm sure I will be back again.

Check out Melt if you're in Lakewood or Cleveland Heights. OneBuckeye mentioned a few hotspots, definitely visit Ohio City, especially if you're a beer lover, Coventry, Little Italy, and University Circle areas also have a lot going on. Playhouse Square is also nice if that's your thing. I'd also suggest taking a stroll through the metroparks, but weather might be too crappy for that.

It's actually not a bad city but gets a bad rap. A lot of people leave surprised that there is actually stuff to do and the river is in fact, not on fire.

Everyone will have a different opinion of course, but lines and wait to sit down say more than not, people are leaning the opposite way.

Go to the Westside Market and grab a gyro from Steves gyros. Head across the street to Great Lakes. for a couple beers.
