If I can't kill him what can I do?

Exactly, the punishment is for lying, not for getting ink everywhere. That has to be made abundantly clear to him.

Natural defense mechanism kicked in with the kid to try and avoid punishment for the ink. So, he lied and hoped his hail mary would be answered. It wasn't. But, now he's double downed and facing even worse punishment.

Make him paint the door. Take the time to supervise him and make it an insufferable experience for him. And once he's done, make sure he knows it would've been better to come clean from the get-go instead of trying to cover it up. Because, by punishing him now, he'll be sneakier trying to cover up future problems. Which would entail worse punishments.

In terms of punishment for the ink, what are you going to do? Kids will be kids. The lying, imo, is the bigger problem here.
Maybe he lied because his dad abuses him? I mean, the guy is thinking about killing him after all.

Exactly. Make the little shit paint the door for lying to you and make it clear that is why he is painting it (as others have stated).

It seems you don't really feel like you have the time to discipline your children i.e. you saying you don't have the time to supervise him while re-painting the door or how you just seemed to let him eat dinner, do homework and go to bed. What kind of punishment is that? You need to address the problem. I'm not even a parent and I even know that the way you have handled this so far is pretty lousy.

Or at least he will tell a better lie. :o

I think you should sit down and have heart to heart talk with your son.

Explain to him the importance of honesty and and following direction from you.

Then I would give him some kind of mild punishment like extra chores or no Xbox for a week.

Make sure to give him a hug and tell him that you love him no matter what.

Then slap him upside the head and kick his effin retarded ass..

I start to get dinner ready and he goes outside to play. He comes in a few minutes later, gets on the computer and is really quiet. I go to get something out of the pantry and I notice blue ink on the door. I call my son over and ask him why is there ink on the door. He says I don't know. I ask him if he exploded the pen and he tells me no. I ask to see his hands and they are covered with blue ink. I ask him again did you explode that pen, he says no. I clean the ink off the door and tell him to wash his hands and check around the house for more blue ink.

The white front door has a big smear of ink about 6 inches below the handle. I tried to clean it off but it is not coming off. I just painted the door a few months ago and I don't feel like sanding down and repainting. At this point I am count to ten over and over, trying not to yell, but picturing doing some physical harm to him, which I did not. He eventually admits the "magic" blue ink did come from him even though he originally denied knowing where it came from.

Any suggestions on removing the ink and keeping the paint intact?

Before you get on my case about making dinner, my wife is in Chicago today and you don't want her cooking anyway.

I am not disputing your explanation of the incident that took place, but there is always two sides of the story. You need to sign your son up with his own account on the OC and let him give is side of the story, also he is 12 yrs old and needs to see what his dad does on the computer while he is outside playing with sharp objects that may cause harm to himself and others. There could be a good explanation for his fascination with objects that could be used as a weapon if he decides that enough is enough after being grounded. Remember this is the OC and we require some kind proof with all stories, Let the kid tell us what really happened and then you need to start thinking about sending him to a boarding school or military boot camp before it becomes extreme and someone gets hurt.

You might not be able to kill him, but you can chain him in the basement. Or if you don't have a basement, cane him. Stuff a sock in his mouth to muffle the yells of pain.

Hair spray takes out ink. Spray some hair spray on a paper towel and then clean it off with that. It may take a bit but it should work.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned smacking the mom when she gets back from Chicago. It is obvious that it is her fault for allowing the kid's values to be so messed up this late in life.

Can't he smack her for both leaving the kitchen and letting the kid's values to be screwed up? Why does it have to be one or the other?
