Anyone familiar with WordPress?

OhioStatePride2003Me and a friend are creating a sports blog and decided to use WordPress.com. I've been messing around with it for the last couple of days and I am so lost. I know it'd probably be easier to just use a different blogging site (I'm open to suggestions) but I think that if I can figure it out, it'll be worth all the trouble. It's a really detailed site and it has left me confused.
Basically, I just want to get to the point where we have a nice background and am able to post our blogs. Also, anyone know what the idea of "Tags" are? Just curious. If anyone can help me get started, at least, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

sejThe tags are so someone could click one and pull up and find all the posts that have been related to that topic. For example, if someone is reading an entry you posted about the Reds and you tag it as "Reds", they could simply click the tag to pull up all the entries you've tagged as "Reds"
For the background, click on dashboard under the blog menu at the top. On the left, it will have an appearance section. If you click on background, you can upload your own. If you select theme, you will have your choice of themes that have already been created.
The post menu is on the dashboard as well, but closer to the top. You can also go to blog at the top and select new post. -
justincredibleI use Drupal. Hope this helps.
Seriously, though. Wordpress is good software but I've only used it for one really small site.
