No damage at all. I was in my car next to a construction site and thought it was from there, but no work was being done. It was definitely an experience. Just prepping for this damn hurricane that is on its way.

Manhattan was shaking. I didn't feel a thing though, I was out on lunch. Still quite a few people on the sidewalks waiting to go up to their offices.

Yeah I am glad as it looks like Fl will be sparred and I am traveling to Ohio Thurs so my flights should be good to go too. Mid Eastern Seaboard better watch out and be ready for Irene.

was anyone listening to 97.1 when it hit. Rothman just stopped talking and then freaks out while D. Stanley says he didnt feel it b/c of his great balance. They then had to ask others in the building and see if anyone was working on their building b4 a called told them it was an earthquake

I wonder if anyone who got sucked into buying those magic balance bracelets felt it?

Interesting FB post by the University of Toledo. Connection? Sounds like it to me...

Rapid response crews are working quickly to repair a broken water line that is leaking water into the Student Union. Until the situation is resolved, we're asking that the University community avoid the area. The valve broke before 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, on the second floor of the Student Union near the cafeteria and began spraying water into the building.

In Orrville, OH, the projector in our conference room started shaking the image on the screen, and we started feeling the whole building shake. Then I got a text from my girlfriend in Solon, OH, and she felt it.

Damn. I didn't notice it in Salem, but others here did.

An email from my girlfriend when I asked her for details (she is watching news, I'm at work):
Earthquake was in Mineral, VA, approx time 1:40pm. The earthquake was only 3.5 miles deep so that isn't very deep, plus they are reporting the quake to be 5.9 on the scale. As we all know this is a strong quake, especially for the east coast. D.C. is closing buildings to ensure safety and check things out with building structures. News report that the Washington monument may be tilting now. NYC is also evacuating buildings, and only allowing people to pick things up and sending them home. In DC they are warning people NOT to go into the subways as they are afraid of after shocks. Not sure if the same is going for NYC. All flights had been grounded in NYC. Amtrak has not allowed their trains to go over bridges or through tunnels. After shocks are likely, just not sure how many/often/extensive etc since we don't have much experience with earthquakes of this magnitude on the east coast. This is what I have for now.

I'm pretty sure I felt it in Ironton, OH. Over in Ashland they evacuated a building so it definitely shook here.

Felt it and woke me from my nap. Didn't think anything of it at first because the floor of our apartment always shakes a little when the people below us slam their door. But then I saw there was one on the news and put two and two together.

Clearly this whole earthquake thing is an act of terrorism.

Felt it in Wintersville, Ohio... was sitting at the computer doing continuing education for my EMS certification and my chair started shaking... lasted about 25-30 seconds then stopped. I had not idea of the quake at the time and called my g/f at work... just as I called her it happened again lasting about 10-15 seconds. She told me about the quake and said she didn't feel anything. She works less than a half-mile from home. I thought one of the dogs was against my chair doing something, but when I looked none of them were there...
