Best James Bond

No need to explain. What actor portrayed the best James Bond? I am a big fan of Daniel Craig, but before him, I was in the minority and liked Roger Moore.

    What say you?

Connery for me. Not very close either.

I think Connery. Roger Moore was more recognizable in my time, but being older now I think of Sean. (I'll take The Rapist for 200 Alex !!!)

    Connery

    Brosnan
    Craig

    Brosnan? Really?
  • Tobias Fünke
Brosnan was the man. He was definitely smoother than Craig is. Craig is a bull in a china shop.

    Connery

Ha! I guess I, too, am in the minority. Connery was great, but I really liked what Roger Moore brought to the table. IMO, Moore pulled off more arrogance, and better, which for me was a better fit for the character. Connery was smooth, Moore was brash and I think it comes down to what you think works better.

I tend to agree Gut. Connery was a bad ass as Bond, yet hated being the character. Moore embraced it in a smarmy sort of way. Like I posted earlier I always thought of Moore as Bond...until I saw Connery as Bond....they both were different and great in their own way. Making the same character different.

Bingo, that's the word I was looking for. Bond is BRITISH SAS, and smarmy fits the bill. Connery was a more wolrdly, suave Bond, and it's a valid take on the character. My preference is for Moore, though, who portrayed more of a blue-collar/average guy who acted sophisticated, which I think is more realistic, if that makes sense.

    ....me (hahahahaha Trebek!).

Obviously my choice for best Bond is Sean Connery!

I just did a quick Wiki search and got the table above. Anyone have any idea why this one would have been left out:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061452/

    Bond: David Niven

    No love for Timothy Dalton?!

    Sean Connery--old school cool

Sean Connery for sure. Though Daniel Craig's Bond would win in a fight with all of them. He seems to be the most "bad-ass" if not quite as "smooth".

Craig pulls it off well as a "young" Bond. You'd expect him to be a bit rougher around the edges than Connery's. I like Craig, as well, and IMO he's a not-too-distant 3rd in this.

On a related note, sad to see the Bond films go the way of cheap Hollywood explosions and special effects. The story really suffers.

I think that was certainly the case with the Brosnan movies (especially the last two), but Casino Royale shifted things back towards a better storylien. QOS was ok, and we'll see how the next one shakes out.

Niven starred in a spoof Bond film (non-canon, therefore, why Niven isn't included) according to here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JamesBond

The Living Daylights is one of my favorites. Any movie where a villain listens to The Pretenders through his headphones deserves mad love. And where another one is a wanna-be military genius who'd likely fit in with our Politics forum.
  • Fred Garvin
    Sean Connery.

Craig has surprised me really. I like what he brings to the role.
I don't dislike Brosnan as much as others.
Anybody but George Lazenby. That was just terrible.
  • Tiernan
Pierce Brosnan as JB makes as much sense as Rosie O'Donnel as a "Bond Girl".

...loved all the Bond Movies w/Connery but I think my favorite was " You Only Live Twice", which had good story line (not great) w/ a cute Asain babe!

When I think of Bond, I think of Brosnan.
  • THE4RINGZ
Roger Moore because he was the Bond of my generation.
