Help w/ college loans
-
detectivegibblesI am in need of a loan outside of what FAFSA has given me. Does anyone have any good personal experiences with certain banks that have worked with them on a decent APR or pay back period or anything of that sort?
-
Trueblue23Sallie Mae is the way to go dude.
-
slide22Yeah that's what I've heard. Unless you're dirt poor FAFSA don't give you shit
-
thedynasty1998Thank God I never had to deal with college loans.
-
dm27I have 1 small loan with chase. with a cosigner i got an excellent rate
-
GeneralsIcer89I'm screwed with loans. Going to a private school instead of tons of places that offered a full ride was the worst choice I ever made, especially when I left the private school.
-
j_crazyI went with chase and my parents cosigned. my rate isn't what I'd call great (5.8%) but they were deferred.
-
dm275.8 is good imo considering it's a student loan.
-
bamagirlI went through Sallie Mae.
-
jpake1I went to KSU and I was only allowed to go through 2 banks per KSU policy. I thought it was BS so I tried going through my own bank, and they wouldn't pass off on accepting the loan from that bank. You may want to check and see if there is anything like that. If there is, maybe there is a way around it. I was a young 18 year old without any help from my parents doing all that college stuff. I'm sure I made some mistakes.

sleeperTry the bank that you or your parents have an account with. They will be more than willing to help you out.

WebsurfinbirdGood luck. My good friend's husband (who is in his 30s) is still paying off his loans from college and law school.
So glad I didn't have to deal with that. I was very fortunate, I know.
IMO, I think the whole student loan thing is a huge problem in this country. Detective I don't know about your particular case, but it does bother me that some high schools (not mine fortunately) push private schools on students that would have to struggle to pay for them, when there are equal or better public schools out there.
That said, I hope that you succeed in getting the financing you need and aren't too burdened by it down the road. -
detectivegibblesThank you all for the help. Greatly appreciated.
