  Every day from 2003-2008 that is all we heard. And every week they PROUDLY displayed the latest RISING number of soldier deaths. When is the last time we have heard what the total count is up to now? We wouldnt want to lump Obama in with the eeeevil war happy GOP Presidents. And then Obama starts ANOTHER war?!?!?!   Obama is absolutely using deaths as he sees fit, unlike GW who publicized almost every single soldier who was killed in action. Does that take away from the heroic sacrifices these soldiers made/are making every day?? IMO, no, but it's 2 separate issues, I see no problem why both can't be discussed here. The media is so liberal it's hilarious at this point (not that it hasn't been).
  
  Prayers to the families of those killed today, and prayers for the safety of those still overseas. I would love for every single military member to make it back safely, but at the same time military presence over there is 100% necessary, and casualties do happen. Let's not forget that Clinton had multiple opportunities to take out Osama and failed to do so, and Osama is the reason we're over there.

  Yes, you certainly do at times, which is understandable. It was a waste up until a couple months ago in Afghanistan. How has Iraq not been a waste? I mean, other than removing all those WMD's they found buried over there., its accomplished nothing.

  Understood man. After the government of Afghanistan ruled by the Taliban refused to turn over Bin Laden we should have officially declared war and went in with full force. Kicked ass and took names. Had we done so we would have quickly overthrown the Taliban and there is a good chance we nab Bin Laden in the process. A lot of blood would have been shed but in a short period of time. The message would have been sent. But our politicians chose to fight a limited political war with murky objectives. Tying the hands of our military. The result being low level combat continuing a decade later.
  
  The cause was not a waste. Your effort was not a waste. Our political leaders screwed this one up. Not you. Those of us that now see the folly in continuing this policy blame our political leaders for not allowing guys like you the power to get it done. I have read countless stories on the ridiculous ROE. I know it hurts guys like you. Makes me even more angry at our gutless political leaders. Thanks for you service man.

  In the scope of the history of war 31 killed in one day is not news. In the Afghan war it is our biggest one day loss to date. I that context it is news. The media should and did report it. Politics has nothing to do with it. I disagree with Obama politically but my gosh I do not believe he does not care and is somehow thankful that this tragedy is in the media and could possibly divert attention from domestic troubles. Get a grip on reality. If you want to throw politics in this would not help him anyways.
  
  The reality is 31 families are wailing and crying today because they will not see their loved ones in this lifetime (actually 38 if you include the Afghans that were killed, they have families too).
