wes_mantoothwhich is the best and what is your order?Mine would go a little sumpin like dis...
1. The Departed
2. The Town
3. Gone Baby Gone
4. Mystic River
5. Boondock Saints -
bigdaddy2003I've never seen Gone Baby Gone and I didn't think Boondock Saints was as great as everyone else. My list would go like this.
1. The Departed
2. The Town
3. Mystic River
4. Boondock Saints. -
wes_mantoothGone Baby Gone is worth a look bigdaddy....I believe it was up for a bunch of awards with No Country for Old Men.
Also, I thought Boondock was average at best...don't get the "cult" following. -

Yeah, I'm vaguely familiar with Gone Baby Gone. Seems like Casey Affleck is the writer or producer. I'll add it to my Netflix. Yeah, I agree about Boondock. Actually a friend of mine and I started watching it one night and turned it off after like 15 minutes. -
THE4RINGZBoondock Saints....fuck the rest of those movies.
-
rydawg5I wasn't a fan of Boondock Saints.
-
ptown_trojans_1Nothing tops The Departed. It is up there in the talk of all time great mob movies.
I'll add the Town second, I loved it. Then Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River and finally Boondocks. -
jordo212000Boondock Saints sucked. I watched a half hour of the first one and had to turn it off. The acting is brutal

Agreed, I'd put the last 3 in the overrated category. I have no idea why Gone Baby Gone gets so much love with the hackneyed story, Mystic River is an example of gross overacting, particularly by Penn and Boondock Saints is cheesy - I can see why some people like it but it is still cheesy. -
cat_loverThe Departed by a mile then The Town,Mystic River,Gone Baby Gone and Boondocks.
-
MulvaThe Departed and Mystic River are 1 and 2. I didn't think The Town was anything special. I'd probably say Saints 3 and that 4. I'm also in the 'haven't seen Gone Baby Gone' group.
-
rydawg5Id say, The Departed, Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Mystic River (Although this was really good), Boondock
-
Commander of AwesomeThe Departed, not close.
-

You'll be pleased. -
JerseyBuckThe Departed easily.

Little DannyI for one will be happy when the stop with all of these movies set in Boston. I am tired of seeing in every movie a bunch of white trash from Southie named Davey, Mikey, Petey, D*ckie, Mickie, Brian, Sean etc. acting all hard and as if they are the center of the freaking universe.

This + 1,000,000. There are few thing more pathetic than a Southie Mick acting hard. I get it, you are too stupid to pronounce the letter "R", that doesn't make you a bad---, it just makes you stupid. -
IliketurtlesThe Departed is the best and its not even close. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Also my 2-5 is the same as the OP.
-
Mohican00The Departed
The Town
Mystic River
Boondock Saints
Gone Baby Gone
Love the first two...the rest were decent, not great -
wes_mantoothI am surprised to see so many people agree about boondock....I thought it was loved by most on here.
-

This. I also have to hear from a couple of people in person how it's so bad ass. I just don't see it. -
Little DannyBoondock started out strong, but the second half of the movie was as if they rushed to get it completed.

Gardens35"Friends of Eddie Coyle", early 70's, Robert Mitchum in the lead.
