I have a new favorite PGA Tour golfer (and so should you)
-
ohiotiger33No, this is not about Tiger Woods in any way.
Yesterday, Dublin, OH native and former Dublin Coffman golfer, Chris Wilson, finished 13th in the final stage of Q-School, earning him a full exemption to next year's pga tour season.
Wilson won a big ten championship at Northwestern and has played the Hooters tour, and other small mini-tours over the last few years. He is based out of Tartan Fields CC. Being a member, I have played a few rounds with Wilson, and there may not be a nicer guy in the world. He has the game to compete at the highest levels, and I hope he can have a great rookie season.
Wilson's run to the PGA tour started with a sponsors exemption to the Memorial Tournament this year, where he learned that the talent gap between himself and the best wasn't as big as he had previously thought.
Here is an article Chris Wilson
Go Chris, and good luck next year! Yet another Central Ohio golfer on tour. -
ZWICK 4 PREZI still like Phil, sorry.
-
ohiotiger33Haha. I hope Phil has a great season next year. That business with his wife and mother having cancer was awful. Nobody deserves that.
-
Mr. 300Lefty
-
se-alumNatalie Gulbis is still my favorite!!
-
ZWICK 4 PREZSE - u should switch to Maria Verchenova
-
j_crazythe fact that he's from ohio has no bearing on who i like. My favorite golfer will always be DL III but I'm also pulling for Kim more and more.
-
ohiotiger33It really had nothing to do with where he was from. I just actually met the guy and played a couple of rounds with him, finding him to be a very nice guy. He has devoted his life to his dream, and has achieved something that is not possible for many.
That being said I also love to follow:
Lucas Glover
DJ Trahan
Ernie Els
Zach Johnson
And of course, Tiger Woods. -
j_crazyI've met several golf pros (that run country clubs and such) but I've only met 1 pro golfer and he wasn't on the PGA tour but one of the lesser tours (I think he mainly played in california/arizona).
I have lots of respect for a guy that can qualify for the tour considering the tourney I played with the pro golfer he shot a 65 (1 off the course record) and I limped in (in the same group mind you) with a 92. I had to be pissing him off all day "you're away" *shot* "you're still away" -
darbypitcher22Verchenova is a good looking one.
guess I'll have someone else to watch with closer interest this year on tour.....
OhioTiger,
anyway you can get me on Tartan Fields? -
ohiotiger33You know what? I can't lol. I am moved down here for good. My summer, last summer, in Powell was my last, as my parents are moving (dad is retiring). I would have definitely done that before though.
-
bases_loadedAll those guys have devoted their life to their dream.
I'll stick with Jim Furyk thought. What he has done for Steve Duplantis'(ex caddy) daughter the last two years despite not leaving on the best terms has spoken volumes for what kind of person he is. Nice win this weekend Jim! -
raiderbuckYea I'll watch him cause he's an Ohio boy...but Tiger is still my favorite.
-
hasbeenI hate hometown teams.
-
darbypitcher22That's a nice course, one I wish I could play. We're members @ Oakhurst but every now and then I like to get off of Oakhurst and on somewhere else nice
-
Be NiceGotta go with Rickie Fowler. We hung out with him and his dad all week at this years Nationwide Tour in Columbus (Scarlet G.C.) What a fantastic young man and player. Tiger who?
-
ohiotiger33Fowler played with Wilson actually. Both finished at -12 I believe.
-
HesstonNice story about the dude from Dublin, I wish him well.
Anthony Kim is my favorite young golfer -
SageYour favorite golfer is probably banging just as many broads as Tiger is/was/did. (Anthony Kim, prime example).
You guys act like just because these guys are predominantly rich and white that they're choir boys who enjoy jostling with each other on the links and spend their nights playing scrabble and Uno with their family and their kids. Rich white guys wrote the book on banging skanks under the table.
The PGA tour kind of reminds me of Greek systems. They want you to buy the hype that they're "gentlemen" and "scholarly" and things like that... when really they're drunken carousers.
I myself am a drunken carouser--so I'm not hating on drunken carousing by any means--it's just I find it comical how people find it so hard to believe that athletes are having sex.
