Yeah but how heavy are the furnaces?

3 miles for my shape is a lot! I can't run all day like you XC champions.

Sometimes those AM runs can suck it outta ya! Wish I could get up at 0600 and run but the wife says it is inconsiderate of me to do so because it wakes her up.

Funny how her watching tv in bed till 1am isnt inconsiderate of me needing to get to sleep but hey, marriage is a sonofabitch!

Yesterday was supposed to be the hottest of the days but I thought it wasnt bad. Did about 3 miles at 6pm last nite.......little breeze was JUST enough to keep it "cool"

Played 18 holes yesterday after 5:00 and it was murder. Might do it again today it was so bad.
  • vball10set
ran 1-1/2 miles sandwiched in the middle of a 3 mile walk at 5:00 yesterday---it was brutal

Kind of a funny story. I coach 8U coach pitch softball, so I called the park office yesterday to see if they were still having the games, since it was so hot. The message was:

"All girls youth softball games in the annex will be played. All adult softball games in the annex are cancelled due to extreme heat"

I completely understand why the youth games would still be played, as we only play 4 innings, and the girls aren't exactly doing alot of running, but I just thought it was funny the way it sounded.

Now that is pretty funny right there!

WHy would they cancel the adult games? I would think, being an adult, if any of the players thought it was too hot they could decide for themselves to not play.
I find that kinda sad. It isnt like softball is that taxing on the body

Have you seen some of the guys that play softball, especially catcher?

I was playing in a tourney at Berliner in Cbus a few years ago and a guy passed out in the middle of an inning. Squad had to be called.

We had an alumni baseball game several years back and a kid who graduated 2 years earlier got a single.....then the next guy hit it to the OF and he went from 1st to 3rd and we had to call the squad.....it was about like it is today outside......yet he was shivering after sprinting....not good

I've coached and my daughter has played softball up there the past 6 years. Leagues are pretty weak anymore it seems.
  • JerseyBuck
101 with a heat index of 112 here in Manhattan. Should make walking to the subway later, fun.

Yea, the youth leagues are pretty shoddy. The field is in terrible condition 90% of the time, the umps never show up, and they don't know the rules when they are there.
  • Ironman92
the umps are about 15 years old and don't give a rat's butt about the rules.....I kinda do so it's hard for me.
  • Ironman92
97 degrees and humidity as high as it can be

Local festival this weekend and walked up there at lunch today. It was a ghost town compared to last years when went up there. Hope it picks up later in the day for them!

Did walk through the misting stand tho......felt quite gooood. It was right next to the 'dunk a cheerleader' tank.......
