What to do in Oklahoma???

  • power i
Hubby and I are leaving on Wednesday for Ft. Sill for our son's graduation from Basic Training on Friday. I have googled the hell out of things to do in Oklahoma and have come up with squat. Anyone have any inside info on what to do in the middle of nowhere in 105 degree temps?

I've never been, but here are some sites that might have something fun. (I didn't try to pick any because I'm not exactly sure what kind of stuff your family is into.)

Ugh, women calling their husband a "hubby" is a pet peeve of mine. SMH.

My wife lived in Lawton ( the town outside the base) for a year - she reports that if God ever has to America an enema, Southwestern Oklahoma is where He will put the tube.

...Power I, I can't help you with that part of the state, but if you're up for a 90 mile drive then "Bricktown" part of OK City is very nice. There is shopping, good resturants and some very good bars.

Otherwise, the only things to do in Oklahoma is hope for a tornado so you can chase it or find a double wide and start your own meth lab!

    You know I do. :D

CFF, in my son's first letter home, he wrote the following: "Whoever these pioneers or settlers or cowboys were that decided to come to Oklahoma were a bunch of f'ing retards."

4cards, the meth lab is starting to sound like it could be the best thing going for us. But I like the farming idea too.

I've been to Ft. Sill/Lawton, Oklahoma a few times. While you are there you need to check out a place called Meers. It is a restaraunt where the serve Steer (chime in the obligatory line from the movie An Officer and a Gentleman "There are only two things in Oklahoma").

    http://www.meersstore.com/

Anyway, they have a burger the size of a tin pie pan. The steer meat is much leaner than your traditional burger. If you eat the burger and all your sides you get a picture on the wall.

Not a whole heck of a lot else to do in the area. There is a Casino in town that is run by an Indian Tribe. Someone else mentioned Oklahoma City, also you might want to travel to Dallas while you are there, the Big D is only about 150 miles away.
