I've considered holding a hair dryer out the window in my neighborhood. Ppl fly here and will eventually hurt someone they've already taken out signs, mailboxes, yards, other cars. I got into it with one guy about 2 yrs ago and he has slowed down since.

    effin morons

Maybe the police department should, you know, actually patrol instead of congregating behind vacant buildings downtown for hours on end. Volunteers I suspect will be in short supply, no one wants to be killed wearing a brightly colored vest holding a radar gun...

    stupid...just stupid

I don't know who would want to be a target for someone to shoot at. Youngstown has more important things to worry about than speeders. Yeah I speed through the city so I can make it home safe. Oh and btw when I was home last week. My mom and I were driving down belle vista at 11pm to go to the Lemon Grove. Some jacka$$ through a HUGE rock at my moms car damaging it pretty bad. So we called the cops and he pretty much wrote the report only cause he had to. But he was rude as all heck. If they would have thrown in 5 seconds earlier I could have possibly been dead but the cop could careless. He went right into the circle K instead of possibly looking for the people who did it. I'm not sure why Ytown cops care about speeders then.

I'm worried. The pic of the officer in the article says the name is Anita, but that sure looks like a man to me.

Actually wish they would do something like they here. Tons of kids play up and down the streets here, a 25 mph zone, and jackass do 45 - 50 up through here all the time. I'm always getting into it with people when I yell at them.

"I want to volunteer but to police the hood. I will need one bullet proof vest, gladiator helmet, guns lots of guns, hammer, baseball bat, 40 oz malt liquor bottle, K-9 support, mountain lion, night vision goggles, and a union card with all the fixins. I don't need a radar gun. I'll just do visual. If I think they are speeding I'll chuck the 40 oz at the vehicle and yell slow down."

it is when you know someone who has been hit by a car in a neighborhood.

Can we put in Vbookie an over/under on how long before a radar gun is attempted to be sold at a Y-town pawn shop?

Yeah, those traveling 35 in a 25 want the courtesy of people minding their own business while not granting the courtesy of following the speed limit.

We had this idiot from a block over who would race his motorcycle up and down our 25 mph residential street at 70-80 mph. So my neighbor started waiting for him and backing his truck in front of him when he heard him coming. It almost came to blows once when the idiot almost died. It stopped after that tho.

    That'll do it!!!!

funny how it works. cops try to cut down on speeding in neighborhoods and citizens complain the cops should be out catching murderers and rapists, fighting "real crime". so cops attempt to curb speeding while keeping man power elsewhere to fight "real crime" and citizens still complain.

    :)

A lot of places around here don't have sidewalks, so kids ride their bikes in the streets. Or their basketball, football, baseball will accidentally go out in the street so they go in the street to retrieve it.

Did you never play in your yard as a child and have a ball get by you and go into the street?

Sure am. It happens. It only takes that one asshole that's doing 50 in a 25 and not paying attention to take a kid out that just ran into the street to get his football.
