At What Age Did You Learn about the Birds and the Bees?
-
Little DannyAnd for you OC parents, at what age did you tell your children about it?
My mom and dad told me about it at age 8. My dad was always very open about the discusion. In fact, growing up my dad was basically Jim's Dad from American Pie. It was quite disturbing growing up. -
sleeper5.

majorsparkI told my kids prior to entering JR High. That is when the whole male female thing begins to materialize and the plumbing is there for something to happen. So 12yrs old.
-
adogWhat?! You mean PARENTS are supposed to teach their kids this? I thought this was the job of our public schools.....

Belly35I was mature and much older looking than my age, worked with older boys picking berries, plowing fields and mix cement at the age of 9 years old, had older cousins and friends, coming from a single parent environment with little control not much had to be said. Getting laid at 10 years old from experienced older girl the encounter was a learning adventure. Moving from the country to the city housing project provided addition learning adventures.
Now as a parent of three girls … and the knowledge of my past. We (wife and I) provide at an early age 10 years old the Christian value of marriage, pride for self, demanding respect from others, physical difference, potential dangers and moral values lessons. We provide love, caring and open conversation in the family ….
Once they walked out that door there are only two modes of protection :
The hope that they listened and learned
Everything is in God hands
As a dad I took my daughters out for their first date: Father /daughter date 12 years old
We when to the finest restaurant, she could order anything on the menu, on that date I presented to my daughter a gold cross w/diamonds necklace. All of this I had hope would make a lasting impression and set the standard for the future. This was also the rite of passage to start dating and the trust that I have in them to be mature, responsible individuals with this freedom. -
adog^^^^..That is so cool...good job Belly

ThinthickbigredI learned about birds at approximatly 5 when a nest fell out of a tree and me and my friend were looking at the baby birds and the mom was dive bombing us !! Poking the chit out of the tops of our heads ...I learned about the bee's soon afterwords when I was stung and was mildly allergic to them . I swelled up pretty good .. Naturally I stopped throwing rocks at ground nests, I also learned they gang up on you I was chased for a long while . The rest of the day I was ducking from flies !!

Con_AlmaWe never stop talking about it. We look for opportunities to address certain things. I don't know how old they were but it's not like one big talk. It's a constant ongoing dialogue.

We all know how great kids are at listening. And I would think its in their hands as far as what choices they make. -

sherm03I have an older brother who is 6 years older than me. So I learned quite a bit at the bus stop when I was 5, 6, and 7 years old.
When I was 10 my dad tried to have the official "talk"...but it was too awkward and he ended up just looking over my homework. -
Curly JI was in the 4th grade, so I guess I was 9 years old when my Dad broke it down for me.
-
ernest_t_bassI didn't have a choice b/c I walked in on my parents. I had a friend in the basement playing Atari. I wanted to ask if we could have something to eat and walked into mom and dad's room. Not a good idea. I was 5 or 6.

justincredibleI really don't remember ever getting the talk. I certainly can't pinpoint an exact age or grade.
Also, belly35 got laid when he was 10. PIMP. -
MulvaMy parents never talked to me about it, but I had the internet and friends and I've always been a pretty good sleuth, so I'd say I was probably 9 or 10.

This. My oldest sibling was 7 years older then me so I was about 8 when I first learned and it just continued from their and with my other older brothers. Other then that no one really gave me the talk.
And Belly, i'm definitely stealing your idea. -

thePITmanI was never given "the talk". It just gradually became common knowledge as I progressed through school.
-
SykotykI was never given 'the talk' either. Just picked up on it gradually piece by piece.
