Potentially new NCAA hockey conference - Miami on the move?

  Some CCHA and WCHA schools have discussed leaving their conferences for a new league, sources have told USCHO.
  
  The schools include North Dakota, Denver, Minnesota-Duluth, Colorado College and Nebraska-Omaha from the WCHA and Notre Dame, Miami and possibly Western Michigan from the CCHA, sources indicated.
  
  If those eight teams leave their conferences, the CCHA and WCHA would each be left with five schools, one fewer than is traditionally required to maintain an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

  It would screw the smaller teams from those conferences not invited to the new conference. Had to see it coming w/ the new Big Ten starting up though.

  It is huge news here in Grand Forks. The rumor has been going around as a way for the Sioux hockey team to keep the name Fighting Sioux.

  Wcha was already the deepest conference in collegiate hockey the addition of notre dame and miami with subtraction of uaa and bemidji will only make this conf tougher
