Gas prices?
-
brutus161I understand that prices generally go up a little around the 4th weekend, but a large jump is ridiculous. Gas went up here 26 cents yesterday. How much, if any, did it go up in your neck of the woods?
-
coyotes22I think it got as low as $3.17, today on the way to work, it said $3.65

Ironman92Someone will come on here in a bit trying to show how smart they are by using big words and telling us it's no big deal or spew some shit about demand.....all the while trying to make the rest of us look stupid.
There is not any reason other than greed by the big shots. -
BR1986FB$3.25 to $3.65 overnight....bitches!

Does Writerbuckeye post on gas threads? -

Went up 50 cents here. -
Fab4RunnerI've stopped worrying about gas prices. It sucks but I am going to pay it anyways.

This. I just do not care. It is what it is. If I cared enough, I'd be riding a bike to work by now. -
coyotes22Well, in all fairness, oil did jump from a mid-week price of $90/barrel to almost $96/barrel

Nothing about being right before the 4th of July weekend. -

But the oil companies have to make money too! -
Ironman92$5 by Memorial Day
6$ by 4th of July
Every year they do those threads and the news gets it going....everyone talks about it and they just raise it as they know we are expecting it. -

I have on occasion rode my bike to work. Driving it is 18-19 miles and biking is 15 miles. SO I spend about $2.55 a day in gas give or take.
The convenience, the ease and time makes it so much easier. Many spend more than that on a coffee, or energy drink, or add on at lunch or dinner.
Those that have to go longer it really is not realistic to ride a bike to work. -

I could if I wanted to, but it's mostly me not wanting to leave the house at around 630am to do so. I rode my bike to work in Athens all of the time. -

Yeah...then ya have the weather. Rain, too windy, too hot, too cold, etc. Spring and fall I will ride to work. There is a bike path that runs alongside a railroad tracks so it goes directly from town to town and makes it nice.ts1227;819460 wrote:I could if I wanted to, but it's mostly me not wanting to leave the house at around 630am to do so. ts1227As long as there isn't snow on the ground, I'll ride in it.
-
IliketurtlesSadly I could easily ride my bike to work if I had one as I live a little over a mile away. I just dont feel like biking in my really nice dress clothes and having to bike back home at 5pm when its hot out.
I haven't cared about gas prices in years sure I try and get it when it cheap and try to pay attention to if its high and waiting to drive somewhere to save gas in case I think it will go down soon. I got gas for 3.29 yesterday though after 2 hours after everyone had gone up to 3.65 walmart was still at 3.39 and then I got 10 cents off for having the gas gift card. -
FatHobbitI use gas buddy on my phone to try to find the best prices, and I will get gas if I see it's cheap. But other than that, when my light comes on I get gas and don't spend too much more energy on it than that.
-
thavoiceIf ya get 25mpg you spend like 30 cents a day in gas at todays prices!
There are two sides of the spectrum. Some live so close to work that it costs them next to nothin, and many live too far away. Others, like myself, live kinda in the middle. I could say a couple of bucks a day by riding my bike but also have alot of excess time. Plus, I half way dress up so cannot do so when it is hot. I would also say more than half of the time after work I need to get something done and cannot do it from my bike, or need that extra half hour or so of time I save by driving.
I really have stopped worrying as well. I know the few places that are cheaper, or slower to raise, and work it out that way, or on a weekened like this make sure I fill up well in advance or just get enough get me by for a week -

This. I filled up for $3.19/gal on Sunday ($2.99 after Kroger card) and it was $3.65 most places today.
OPEC threatened to cut supply so oil prices jumped. Oil was down to about $90/bbl before the speculation began, and then it closed around $95 two days later.
For what it's worth, oil is down $1.25 right now at around $94.00.
Also, you can find gas for substantially cheaper at other near stations because the prices are super volatile and stupid pump operators are slow to change their signs.

A locally owned Marathon station is always slow to raise their rates and change the signs. Shell, owned by Ottawa Oil, raises it first and marathon waits...and gets very busy for the rest of that day. I call it my early warning system -
JawbreakerI figured my local prices were changing because the Lima Refinery had an unexpected shutdown for 10 days.

It's a good thing I'm rich! That's what getting a 32 or a 34 on the ACT will do for you.
