Things to do around Cedar Point
-
TigerNation10Planning on heading up to Cedar Point in the next couple weeks for a couple days. Besides Cedar Point, what other things are there to do during the day/night close by? Suggestions?
-
hoops23Island hopping.
There's a few bars downtown Sandusky as well, if that's your thing...
There's a haunted house on RT 250 that's pretty good..
Some nice golf courses around the area
Nothing too exciting though, honestly..
Most of the fun stuff involves the water. -
Laley23A couple of Water Park Resorts
Kalahari
Great Wolf Lodge
I think maybe one other, but not sure.
Other than that, as Hoops said, head to the lake. I would honestly go to Put-in-Bay or Port Clinton. More to do than Sandusky and not far away. Put-in-Bay has much more. -
Little DannyDo like Tommy Boy and go cow tipping.
-
karen lotzSoak City during the day if its nice out.
-
Skyhook79Make sure you stop at Cheese Haven. The best Cheese and lots of free samples.

Cheese Haven is on Rt. 53 on Catawba, about 40 minutes away, but it's worth the drive if you also have dinner just down the road at Mon Ami winery. Really good food, fun atmosphere, good house-made wine, live entertainment on the weekend, and it's only a few miles from the ferry to PIB.
Otherwise there are only a few other things people haven't mentioned yet. Toft's Ice Cream is in Sandusky and is some of the best ice cream you'll find anywhere (it's served in the park, but the actual dairy is just outside Sandusky). There's a pretty good Goofy Golf on Rt. 250. If you have kids check out the Prehistoric Forest (kinda crappy) and the African Wildlife Safari (a drive through safari with really African animals, pretty decent). I would also recommend eating at Danny Boys. It's on the west side of 250 between Kalahari and Sandusky. They make excellent pizza. -
muffyMerry-Go-Round Museum on the square, downtown. It's in the old Post Office building.
-
hoops23+1 on Danny Boys.
Favorite place to eat at in Sandusky and a nice atmosphere... Wish it was bigger and in a better location though. It's basically right in the heart of a lot of the 250 traffic.
Toft's was also a great suggestion. Could be the best Ice Cream you ever had and it's locally owned and operated. -
Murdski99I went to the TGI Fridays and it was a good time
-
areyoukiddingmeThe Prehistoric Forest has been closed! I think it officially closed at the end of last season.
-
queencitybuckeyeThe name of the cave in that general area is escaping me, but it was pretty cool.
Edison's house and other attractions in Milan are good for a few hours. -
bigdaddy2003The cave I assume you are speaking of is probably Seneca Caverns. It's about 15 minutes or so from Sandusky.
There is also a booze cruise every Friday night that takes you to the islands. Supposed to be a lot of fun. -

great food, fun atmosphere, all around solid B -
bigdaddy2003Seneca Caverns in Bellevue. About 15 miles away or so.
There is a booze cruise every Friday night that takes you to the islands for a bit and then back. -
hoops23Meh, I went to TGI Fridays about 2 months ago and the menu had become stripped down, prices seemed to be up and the food was "ok" given the price tag...
Damon's which is located by the lake downtown is better, IMO... At least they have a good happy hour. Of course, it's been awhile since I've been there as well, so it may suck too. -
SonofanumpNot fond of either TGIF or Damons, Danny Boys has the best deep dish pizza besides the original Pizzaria Uno that I've ever had.
Toft's is the best ice cream, don't be hero, get the small. -
TiernanWhat's name of the little dive restaurant across the street from Cheese Haven? ...best fried perch sandwich in the entire area.
-
ManO'WarWhen I was little I remember going to Fort Firelands and Mystery Hill....both have probably long been closed.

Didn't know he died. He was entertaining to say the least. Reminded me of the soup Nazi only with cheese. -

I think that there's a steakhouse in front of Cheese Haven, and some place called something like Broaster Chicken (or something like that) across the street. -

I would steer clear of the TGI Friday's at Castaway Bay. It's owned and operated by Cedar Point, so the food isn't that great and the prices are inflated. Also, because it's just outside the park, it's usually packed. There is a nice deck out back, so if you can get a seat outside, it's a nice atmosphere.
The location of the store in Sandusky is pretty cool though. I used to eat there a few times a month when I lived in Norwalk. It's on the second floor of a building, with windows on two sides of the resturant, so almost every table has a great view. Depending on where you are sitting you can see Sandusky Bay, Lake Erie, downtown Sandusky, Kelly's Island, and Cedar Point. It's kind of hard to find, because it's tucked away at a marina on the edge of town.
Here's the address for Damon's

Yeah Broaster Chicken is the place. Forget the chicken and get their fried perch sandwich...kinda pricey at $8.95 but worth it. Had two last weekend!krambman;815103 wrote:I think that there's a steakhouse in front of Cheese Haven, and some place called something like Broaster Chicken (or something like that) across the street. -
