  Couponing vs Entitlements
  
  My neighbor, her daughter, my daughter, two ladies at work, and a few of my other relatives and friends are doing this couponing stuff. They have been for a year or more. Why? I ask my daughter and neighbor they both explained that it helps with the bills and other things may need. Ok I can understand that but really neither really has to ..or do they?
  
  I do 80% of the grocery shopping for my wife and me and do 90% of the cooking (enjoy good food). I have been observing many at the grocery store lately. I have also witness first hand many times that transaction of the Welfare Entitlement Card in action and the purchase made. I have also been behind the coupon queen making a transaction of $160.40 worth of grocery for $24.00. Note she was not to bad to look at during this longer than needed checkout.
  
  My observation is as such:
  
  We live in a screwed up world where hard working families who have to make ends meet via couponing and looking for values to make their budget stretch. Spending their hard earned income wisely and with frugal purchases to provide for their families. But being hindered with taxes to support ………… others who don’t share that same ideology. It would seem logical that those who are being supported by public services should be the ones being frugal. But no !
  
  Where as on the hand those who enjoy the Entitlements of the gluttony of the social services programs make no effort but to spend and spend poorly what is not theirs. I have never in all my observations witness a Card Carrying Entitlement Welfare individual hand over to the check out clerk a coupon. It is almost like it is beyond then to be lowered to the level of cut and chip purchase money. (Dollar coupon is the same as a Dollar bill if the transaction of buying and purchasing of goods excepts coupon as payment)
  
  What has been created and what type on mentality is being developed when working America has to scrap and coupon and those on public assistant spend.

  My only real problem with the coupon shit is that there are people who really need a roll of TP and you've got some dumb bitch going out and buying 352187318273 rolls.

  Have you seen some of the people on those shows? They buy hundreds and hundreds of things. It's a joke.

  Shopping is one of those tasks in life that taxes my patience to no end. I find I'm much happier if I simply don't do it.
  
  I agree Belly that it would be nice to see those who are in need and receiving assistance be conscious of making it go as far as possible. Unfortunately, it seems like frugality was replaced with excess a long time ago in our society.

  Those cards have a spending limit on them, correct? Then who cares. If they want to receive less food by not couponing, then have at it.

  I don't know if it's a matter of caring or not but rather an observation of the differences in mentality between those two groups mentioned.

  My son, who just moved into an apartment, send a bunch of e-mails to companies like Heinz, P&G, etc.. saying he was a poor college student just starting out on his own and could he get any coupons from them. Got a whole lot of coupons in the mail or e-mailed and went to the grocery store and bought $128 worth of stuff that cost him $23 after all the coupons. I was duly impressed!!

  How the hell to people ever even get close to 50% off with coupons? I use them a lot and I usually save maybe $10-$15.

  The wife watches that Extreme Couponing..on TLC I think? It's nuts. They will get like 2 grand worth of groceries for 20 bucks. Hell, there was one that bought like 1400 bucks worth of groceries and the store ended up owing HER 30 dollars. How the hell does that happen???

  I have never found a coupon that is for more than the item costs. I have a hard time understanding how the store can possibly owe someone money. (not that I think you're lying, I just don't get it.)

  The people who do that treat "couponing" like a job though. Fuck you very much if I'm expected to do that. I'll buy things at the best price I can find them but I will not waste my time.

  Say an item regularly costs $1.99. Then the store is having a sale on that item where you get $1.00 off. The price of that item is now $.99. Now say you have a manufacturer coupon for that item for $1.49 off. You combine the two deals, and the store ends up owing you $.50. Multiply that by the hundreds of that item that these people buy, and that's where you get some big money saved.

  the big ones they show on that TV have people buying alot of items taht are used for months, and years. Yeah, it is cool and all but when they say that is their job and it is better for them than working I am not so sure because you dont do that stuff every week.
  
  
  As for the OP in this.....I agree with you 100%. One small thing tho, and I HIGHLY DOUBT it is happening most times when you see those types not using coupons at all and just our tax dollars.....there are many times that a generic brand of a product is cheaper than a name brand one that you have a coupon for. I used to always get the sunday paper and raid the coupons. SOmtimes it was chepaer to get name brand stuff with a coupon, and sometimes generic.

  Not to mention their house is so damn full of shit they have stuff everywhere. The house becomes like a grocery store within' itself. Boxes of food and household items in every corner of the house. No thanks.

  OK, but what does our tax dollars matter if there is a dollar limit? Either way, they are getting $200 worth of food. If they want more food for that $200, then they should coupon. If not, then don't. It's not like more of our tax dollars are going to go to them if they don't coupon. They still get $200.

  No doubt the expense to the taxpayers is the same. No one has suggested that the costs were the intriguing point for those of us who pay.

  You ever notice that the people on those extreme couponing shows are obese? It's probably because you don't need 65 cases of mountain lightning and a truck load of little debbies. If I was one of the kids working the checkout I would bitch slap that whale for ruining my day.

  The 1 lady bought $1200 worth of groceries for like $120. Pretty impressive, except that with all that shit she couldn't make one single meal.

  Yeah but to act like other people should do this is ridiculous. That cost is passed on to everyone else. The more people start doing this the less coupons and such there will be because companies won't want to eat the cost of them.
