BigAppleBuckeyeI don't get what the Nebraska Horseshoe tradition even is? Just running out of the tunnel into their horseshoe-shaped stadium?
-
Frothy Walrus14% now.
More people in Nebraska have voted than people in Ohio. That's ridonculous considering the difference in population.... -

They have a horseshoe mounted on the entrance from the tunnel to the stadium that the players slap when they walk out. I had to watch the video twice to figure out that's what the tradition was.
I think when you're tradition is named after another teams stadium and is essentially the same thing that nearly every team in the country does (touching something for luck before entering the stadium) then it's not a very good tradition. -
krambmanI also don't like the "Play Like A Champion Today" sign as the #1 tradition in their bracket. First of all the sign wasn't installed until the 1980's when Lou Holtz was the coach, it's a tradition that only the players see/experience, and, as I said earlier, it's essentially the same thing that almost any football team does, there's really nothing unique about it.
-
JawbreakerI wouldn't say that qualifies it as a bad tradition but it doesn't score points for being unique.
-
krambmanI never said it was a bad tradition, jut not worthy of being number one. In fact, after watching all of those videos, 7 of the 16 traditions are of teams touching some good luck charm before entering the stadium, and another three videos showed teams doing the same thing even though it wasn't the tradition. Had this sign been up since the dawn of ND football, or had Notre Dame been the first to institute such a tradition, then I would have no issue with it being at the top. I think that one of the best things about college football is the diversity in tradition, and I think that one of the things that makes a tradition great is its uniqueness and specificity to the school where the tradition happens.

thePITmanDown to 12% difference. Keep voting!

like_thatI am not an OSU fan, but wow if Nebraska wins this first round matchup, that is just a complete joke. Script Ohio is one of the coolest college traditions imo.

thePITmanIt's down to an 8% difference. Keep voting!

MulvaThe most surprising thing is that enough people actually watch SportsNation to hear about this poll and vote.

Why is that amazing?
Or they discovered the poll simply by getting on ESPN.com or by seeing it posted on message boards like this one.
There's now only a 6% difference in votes. -
Curly JJust voted. Big Red up by 12% (LOL at Michigan voting 60/40 for Nebraska)

Funny you mention that. Because when I saw script Ohio, I thought the fact that the football team doesn't even do it was a strike against them as a tradition. That's more of band tradition. But I guess if you are looking at the overall gameday experience, it's fine.krambman;803169 wrote:it's a tradition that only the players see/experience -
thePITmanWow. I just checked back in for the first time in a few days, and it's down to 2! Keep voting!

ZenJust voted it's still at 2%. Only 52,000 votes cast in this poll, compared to the nearly 73,000 for the Michigan/Colorado poll...
-
ZenWell, the Buckeyes lost 53%-47%. The deciding factor by far was the international vote, which had Nebraska at around 80% and over half the votes cast...

That's complete BS no way anything should even come close to Script except ND and USC no matter how much "tradition" is behind it.
