This could be a problem...

BigAppleBuckeyeScrew Google, and hire an Ad Network. It will be no cost to you (or the site), and you would share the revenue on reduced-rate CPMs for online banners. Companies like ValueClick, 24 RealMedia, Advertising.com, etc come to mind.

Bigger forum than you would want/could achieve. If it didn't start on /b it probably started on somethingawful.
This is a pretty sweet thread:

Rev shares are always nice, because they are win-win. It's why I used to use Clickbank, Commission Junction, and a few others.BigAppleBuckeye;797278 wrote:Screw Google, and hire an Ad Network. CPA networks might not be a horrible idea, either. Zip submits are converting pretty well these days. -

The only problem with rev shares is that people actually have to buy something for any sort of payout. I have a shareasale account that I used for a while back in the day but it led to $6 in like a month. -

Not necessarily Justin. Many ad networks work on a reduced CPM model. So basically this ad network, instead of paying $50-$75 CPM on banners on specific sites, would buy millions of impressions across multiple websites at a greatly reduced rate (in the $1-$5 CPM range). So long story short, you would get a constant influx of banners populating the site, and you would split the revenue with the ad network (which is funded by the advertiser).
For example, lets use Nike as an example. Instead of Nike spending a premium to be on ESPN.com, they would pay an ad network to place them on hundreds of sites nationally at a lower rate. Whatever Nike pays the Ad Network, you would get 50% of that, but only for the banners on your site (or whatever deal you work out with them). -

So reading your post like most people read posts...if I create my own website and use Ad Network I will get 50% of Nike's revenues....www.bases_loaded.com is open for biz -
The EqualizerIf the answer was given, apologies for asking again but what's the monthly/yearly cost for hosting the site and bandwith?
Would sizable donations lead to any higher standing in the OC hierarchy? -

Depends. It's been awhile since I talked with any, but I do believe there are revshare CPA models out there.justincredible;797313 wrote:The only problem with rev shares is that people actually have to buy something for any sort of payout. Is this basically a rev share media buying model? I've never dealt with media buying that worked on a revshare model. I'd be interested in hearing about it.BigAppleBuckeye;797321 wrote:Not necessarily Justin. Many ad networks work on a reduced CPM model. That is correct O-Trap, I know 24/7 RealMedia operates this way. I am not 100% sure of the revenue breakout (whether its 50-50 or 70-30), but many media sites (particular during the summer or slower months) use these networks to sell off remnant inventory and get at least some money for it. Seeing that OhioChatter has no dedicated ad sales team, essentially the entire ad inventory can be included in this process. -

I wonder if they would be able to do this on a cross-network model. I know one network I'm on ranks sites in their marketplace by the number of sales, and if I did a low-cost download, I'm betting I could pull in quite a few sales that way.BigAppleBuckeye;797574 wrote:That is correct O-Trap, I know 24/7 RealMedia operates this way. I live in Brooklyn Heights (literally a stone's throw from the Brooklyn Bridge), it takes me 2 minutes on the A train to get to lower Manhattan, and about 15-20 minutes to midtown (where I work for a large media company). I always love talking about internet marketing, I have seen this industry evolve so much in the past 3-5 years. -

Domain name is usually about $10 annually. You can get decent, cPanel hosting for about $24 annually.bases_loaded;797590 wrote:I need the startup...for however much it takes to start the site you can change my avatar. Then you can have 25% of the 50% of Nikes rev im about to share

That is private information, you will need a court ordered subpoena to gain access to that information.
The Equalizer;797518 wrote:Would sizable donations lead to any higher standing in the OC hierarchy ?
That information is also private but easier to obtain, you will need to send a letter of intent to donate by certified mail. The letter will have to include the notarized signature of your bank manager where your funds are deposited with a signed power of attorney giving Justin the legal rights to remove funds from your account at his discretion for the next 36 months with the option of a 24 month extension if needed by Justin. You will be required to keep a minimum running balance of $12,000.00 in the account at all times, if balance drops below that amount for any reason for more than 24 hrs, you agree to sign over your home, auto and 70% of your future earnings to Justin for the next 30 yrs. -
