Hot Day.....1952 Refrigerator......YIKES!
-
Ironman92Washed car
Walked into garage to the dinosaur refrigerator for an ice cold powerade (beer for you hardasses)
Grabbed handle..opened up door about 5 inches and it sent voltage through me?????? Not anything huge....but it tingles the fingers pretty good. I told my kids to be careful and they say it's been doing it ever since we plugged it back in during April?
Cause? Seriousness? -
I Wear PantsHaha. Your kids have been getting shocked and never bothered to tell you?

We had a fridge in the basement that would do this for a very long time. It was odd..some times it would, some times it wouldnt. I think it was maybe when it was running and kicked on for the cooling system or whatnot but man oh man...it would go through through the body. When dad wanted a pop we had to fight who had to get it out of the fridge! -
ZWICK 4 PREZGround it.
The fridge will stop working but you wont get shocked. lol -
Ironman92lol....my 7 year old and his neighborhood friends go and get freeze pops out of there all the time.......my son says they take turns and giggle at each other......nice
-
Ironman92I'd hate to put it to sleep......it was a freebie when we bought our first house in 1998......took it with us when we moved in 2005......only weighs about a million pounds

ZWICK 4 PREZWell the bad thing is getting into those to see where and why the frame is hot will be next to impossible. Just hope it eventually stops and use a leather glove to open it in the mean time.

Could you wrap the handle with something to insulate it? -
Ironman92I rounded up 12 Dan Uggla rookie baseball cards, mashed them around it it used some saran wrap to make it hold. So far so good....definately no voltage getting past Dan Uggla.
-
I Wear PantsHaha.
-
thavoiceWe ended up wrapping the handle with rubber and some electrical tape which helped some!

That's great. LOL! -
AppleUnplug it for a month and then look at your electric bill. Odds are it is costing a lot to keep it running.
-
Bio-HazzzzardI miss my old green beerigerator. The beer was ice cold but I just couldn't get past the tingling welcome it passed on every time I opened it. I gave it to one of my employees 7 years ago and two weeks later he quit , I havent heard from him since. Maybe it did him in, I dunno.

Best post ever. -
Ironman92I'm eagerly awaiting approval from Lotz...but I appreciate the compliment.
I doubt it's using that much electricity...plus it serves a good purpose, it provide cold drinks and a daring game for the young kids. -

A 50's fridge? I guarantee its pulling a ton of current lol. -
power iThis is exactly the reason we have kids. Let them get your cold drinks for you.

Ironman92We don't use it Oct-Late April and out electric bill isn't anything much more after you take the damn near non-stop air conditioning unit.
The water/sewage bill kills where I live...fridge isn't doing enough to matter. If I was concerned I let the clothes dry outside.
